I am having trouble using Subtitle Workshop. Can't seem to input chinese characters. Eventhough I already install XP's Asian Language and all the Asian stuff. The chinese character that was inputed into Subtitle Workshop, only appears as ???????? in the Text column. In translate mode, same ???????.
What did I do wrong?

I've been able to get Chinese to display using Subtitle Workshop. When I type in the Chinese, Subtitle Workshop text doesn't register it and uses weird unintelligible characters there, but when I preview or play the subs, the Chinese shows up fine. I'm not using any special characters or even Chinese font in particular; just the Chinese typing option from the Windows 2000 OP.

| Can you try a different input program, maybe? I'm not quite sure, but I had to change my computer's language settings in the Control Panel altogether before I could see Chinese on websites, or even read CDs with file names in Chinese, let alone type Chinese and have it display properly.

| Take a look at that screenshot of subtitle workshop that was posted. See the left control panel? The place where it says "Default" above "ANSI"? Instead of "default", select whatever encdoing you need to see chinese characters (I think chinesebig5). For instance, to see japanese fonts, I select "ShiftJIS", then I can make Japanese subtitles.

I didn't set any special language settings to get that to display; I just turned on 2K's Chinese typing option from the Language bar and typed away.
Don't know if these'll help since I'm on a difference OP than you, but who knows? I picked the options I think have to do with displaying Chinese; mayb'e they'll be useful in some way.
