need to clean the listings up. more and more crap being posted.

how about setting some sort of posting system that requires approval from say ruroshin or a couple of "mods". this would be way better.

I wholeheartedly agree. However, I think Ruroshin wanted d-addicts to be totally open with minimal maintenance. I think right now it's totally backwards... He's spending more time trying to modify the site and keep it open than to seal it and make it moderated. BT users just can't handle open BT trackers, period. This, of course is my honest opinion.

Yes I want to try and keep it as open as possible because it encourages more sharing.

Giving moderators the ability edit or delete torrents is definitely on the plate but for now I'm more busy with keeping the site's behind the scene stuff running more smoothly, especially with the tracker.

Anyway, taking a snap shot of the front page this is what we have:

twdrama Romance in the rain ep 05-06
jdrama Younger Men - Episode 2 of 11
cmovie Arhats In Fury.cd2.ac3
cmovie Arhats In Fury.cd1.ac3
kdrama Hotelier ep 2
kdrama Hotelier ep 1
cmovie The Legend Of Zu
jdrama Pride_ep_2_chn.avi
jdrama Say Hello to Blackjack - Episode 11 FINAL
kdrama Ruler.of.Your.Own.World.07-PosTX.avi
jdrama Story of One Century-05.mpg
jdrama sorewa03
jdrama Pride Period 3
jdrama Pride_ep_01_chn.avi
twdrama Romance in the rain ep 04
hkdrama challenge of life CD8
hkdrama ?H?b??t 8
kdrama autumn_tale-ep10.DVDRip.XviD.[D-A].avi
cmovie Star Runner
jmovie Returner_2002_Divx5.1.1_No_Subs_MultiLing
cmovie Heroes Shed No Tears
jdrama Under the Same Roof - Episode 3 of 12
ost The Classic Original Soundtrack
kdrama All.In.Part15-CiMG
cmovie Ashes of Time (WKW film)

This is not too bad, the one in bold needs moderation. sorewa just needs some more clarification as to what the heck that is and the hkdrama one is obviously "challenge of life" and is a duplicate so can be deleted. But besides those 2 everything else conforms to the goals of the site. Smile

the crap posts are slowly creeping in. I suspect (hopefully not), that give it about a few weeks, it'll end up like before. If that really happens. we probably need some moderators to help out.

what do you think.

Indeed, I totally agree that people out there just can't deal with an open tracker. Question, though, is where exactly would you moderate?

1) Are we going to let them post the torrents and become available, just like right now? And then have the moderators clean it up? The problem here is that it gives the leeches a chance to see the post, then open up their download windows, giving them false hope there will be a seed immediately following the post.

2) Or, should we have them post the torrents into a queue, then let the moderators select which ones to make available, while dumping the rest? The torrent will still be alive, just not publicly downloadable. That way, the poster of the torrent will still be seeding, ready for when the torrent becomes public. I'm for this option!

The latest problem we're having here is people posting torrents just to have the torrents on-line. I THINK I understand what the logic is here... People think by posting the previously deleted torrents up, it'll build up the d-addicts torrent library. Others will see x number of downloads with zero seeds, and therefore start to seed it. That's not happening here! Instead, we're seeing two things: One, the same thing I mentioned in option (1). Second, it's screwing up the top 10 torrent requiring seeding list because all these newly-replaced torrents are quickly taking over the list.

My idea would be to place some sort of requirement where within 30 minutes to 1 hour the torrent must be seeded, or else remove it. Why post a torrent, then wait a half-day to a full day (or in some cases, NEVER) to seed it? For the life of me, I can't figure out why people post torrents then don't immediately seed. scratch For me, posting the seed is the LAST thing I do. I have everything prepared on my side beforehand.

I hope this is my only gripe of the day... Crazy

i'll go for option 2.

although i vote for instant delete if a post is bad, this was setup to be more open.

right now, we have like 10 torrents that is based from some other sites. like I think someone posted a comment, and i mentioned this before that, i think some people are using the site to post for their own community. not exactly a bad thing, but if they don't share with others, and also post something inappropriate, then the problem snowballs.

No matter how its implemented. I think a group of moderators is needed to put in some sort of control.

Since I'm busy with work and study I can only work on the site on the weekends for a few hours so the improvements are comming slow pinch

Anyway, heres the schedule:

this weekend:
scrap current register function and user table, use the forum's user table and register function instead. Allow moderator group to edit/delete torrents.

next weekend:
scrap current comment system, integrate with forum instead.

next next weekend:
change the upload so that new torrents will only show up if uploader starts seeding it. Make upload form more detailed.

I will consider groink's proposal for option 2. With the change to upload that new torrents will only show up once it begin seeding and with moderator functions I'm hoping I won't have to implement option 2 because it might discourage sharing. I will make the decision after moderators feedback after all the changes are in place.
