i managed to watch two eps from the early august ones.

tonydesu: your subbing job is nothing short of SUPERB. as a small request, the hosts dialogue in-between the show at times. instead of translating every sentence, would you be able to give us a short sentence of what they're saying? (ie, "they're discussing how mikarin shouldn't make him wait that long....")
it looks like you did a lot of work in terms of matching the color of the subs. i think it's great work, but if it takes too much time, i personally feel the plain b/w is good enough. font is just the right size to read. perhaps you may want to put your translation a little below the actual jp word, so that we can read the kanji/hiragana/katakana (for practice).
in any case, i still think you did a FANTASTIC job!!

Sylvain: i will probably need to use your website to watch the earlier eps (june05 and later)....

thanks for all your hard work guys.

Thanx for the support. Glad you like the show.

Sorry for not subbing the commentary. It's mostly a lot of small jokes, not worth it for the amount of effort requiring to sub it. And when I watch with my firends we always fast forward those parts. I also don't have the scripts to the commentary, so it'd take more time to discern what theyre saying exactly and translate it. If somebody wants to sub those parts though they're welcome too.

As for colors, adding them is easy. Takes less than 20 min after making the original. However, positioning takes a lot of time. I have set position values for some subtitles that work for every episode. But it'd be a lot of work figuring out the position values for each line of dialog. If you want to read kanji you can always turn off/on the subs! Ah, the beauty of soft subs Smile

Wanted to regester just to say thanks to tonydesu. I only started watching this about a month ago, and I love the show. Me and my GF watch it every week now, and now that she's back in japan, it makes it even better that we can both watch the show (and the subs help too)

Thanks again for the subs, they're excellent!

お待たせしました~
New Subtitles: 2005-10-17 "Unbelievable"

Translator Notes: "Kappa" is a "water spirit".
----------------------------------------------------------------
Kappa (From About Japan)

Kappa are supernatural creatures which live both on land and in water. They are as tall as a four or five year old child. They have a beak-like snout, and fins on their hands and feet. They also have a shell on their back, and a water-filled dish on their head. As long as the dish is full of water, kappa keep their supernatural powers. Kappa are known for dragging people into the water and pulling out their livers through their anuses.

Although kappa harm people sometimes, there are also many tales where they have helped people. They are very curious. They often appear in cartoons because of their lovable images.

Kappa love sumo wrestling and cucumbers. That is why cucumber sushi rolls are called "kappa maki". "Okappa" are bobbed hairstyles because they look like the kappa's hairstyles. Kappa are excellent swimmers. There is a saying "Kappa no kawa nagare (a drowning kappa)" which means, even an expert can make mistakes sometimes.
