This is the first time I heard someone said "summer snow" is boring
Anyway, for me, I have quite a long list of bad doramas
pretty girls, hatachi no kekkon, omiai kekkon, family value, yasha, musashi, oishii kankei, hitonatsu no papa e, and more
and the worst of those listed above is hatachi no kekkon
because I only managed to watch 2 eps, it's so boring

Woah! Summer Snow is actually the 2nd most voted drama of all time on JDorama.com. By comparison, only GTO has more votes, and it even beat out classics like Long Vacation and Gokusen.
I usually don't consider a drama boring or bad if I only watched the first episode or two because I never gave the drama a chance to mature as the story rolled along. As for my pick for worst drama, it would have to be Loved to Love (TBS). Other than the famous actors in the drama, it has virtually none of the elements of a trendy drama (flying space shuttles, spirits, etc.) I also didn't like Wakaba (asadora drama) because the heroine just didn't appeal to me -- not like Oshin, Asuka, Sakura or Fight.

at least you managed to watch 2 eps, I watched the first 20 min. or so at least 3 times, geez I can't seem to go further than that without thinking that I'm wasting my life again with that kinda *****. lol Now it's sitting on my harddrive sigh..
I thought golden bowl wasn't that great, although the hottie factor and the bowling games kept it alive. There was meant to be romance, but I'm not into married woman + young man type couples lol, speaking of, it was the same thing in yanpapa, and woah that freaked me out too, my naga-kun marrying a 50 year old? I was like WTF??? Especially after seeing the kawaii Yukosomething as his wife in Mukodono, I almost stopeed watching it, except I couldn't take my eyes of tomoya nagase. LOL good thing she died in the first episode. _________________

I used to go by the jdorama voting system....but I guess the system doesn't suit my tastes at all. I can't say GTO was bad, not at all, I enjoyed it quite a lot. But I still think it's overrated. Long vacation wasn't bad, but that one's totally overrated. the only thing that wasn't totally blowed up was Beautiful Days, which I thought was wonderful. But summer snow....ugh lol. I'll watch it just to see why it's #2...someday. The most UNDER rated jdoramas are:
Hakusen Nagashi, Mukodono, Million Stars Fall from the Sky_________________

I usually watch a dorama till the end, like hitonatsu no papa e, or attack no.1
attack no.1 is really bad dorama, i think
I gave up on musashi after 30 eps or so, way way worse than shinsengumi (which is good dorama)
btw, where is this jdorama voting system? can't find it
Long Vacation is old, so it's probably very good at its time (1996)
people tend to remember how good it was, rather than how good it is now
GTO was good, Beautiful Life was good (tho I don't like Tokiwa Takako), Summer Snow was good
Love Generation, Hero, Kamisama, Love Revolution, Brand, Million Stars, so many good doramas
I haven't even mentioned jdoramas from last 2 years hehe

Are you kidding, Summer Snow is one of the best Japanese dramas that I've seen to date and remains on my top 5 list. Great acting and terrific storyline.

| I don't remember any J-Drama being that horrible. A lot of them are decent, but not worth continuing. If I was forced to watch them, it wouldn't be bad at all. K-drama on the other hand got some horrible dramas to me. I can't stand them.

Exactly...
Worst jdrama? Hmn, I can probably come up with 2-3 dramas...SOS as the worst...
Koukou Kyoushi 2003 wasn't that bad, I was just annoyed with the ending.
Likewise, if someone asks me to list down jdramas that has to be watched no matter what...the type that doesn't need to be perfect but has the ability to capture the audience's attention and emotions all the way to the end...I would have a very short list as well. All the rest would fall in my "see it" list. Sure, most of them have a good cast, a reasonable plot, antagonists-free, less episodes, cleaner and more creative presentation, meaningful script--nothing to poke fun of, really--but one can happily die without seeing them (symbolically speaking, of course).

It was unfair to say Summer Snow as the worst drama when the 1st episode wasn’t even finished. I, myself, couldn’t fathom its top 2 position even after finishing the whole drama. The leading male may not be a looker, it might have been a little slow paced...but it still didn't deserve your trashings. I dont even know why I'm defending the damn thing when I couldn't remember most of the story anyway, but what I remember is how it gave me a nice melancholic feeling towards the end. I wouldn't really recommend it, nor will I say bad things about it. It'll be a sin to put down such a simple warm-hearted drama._________________

i watched many dramas good and bad ones, some of the bad dramas are just a waste of time:
- Maria
- Fighting girl
- pretty girls
- SOS (when i watched ep 1 i thought it'll be a good drama but i just cant stand kyoko fukada)
hmm, i cant seem to remember the rest. i'll check my list when i get back home. _________________ People shouldn't dwell on the past. It's enough to try your best in all that your'e doing now.

hmm.. my version of worst dorama would be..
with love (eventhough there're fujiwara norika and yutaka takenouchi, it really can't help getting the dorama out from boredom)
sayonara ozu sensei (I hate watching the "furuhata ninzaburo" in this dorama)
aoi tori (i know that there're lots of people who love this dorama, but the ending??? please!!!)

I actually have to agree. There are trendy dramas where they start off well, explode with the best writing around the middle of the season, and then spend the last two or three episodes summarizing everything (and doing a lousy job at it.)
Watching hundreds of trendy dramas, one thing I've learned is that generally Japanese writers are LOUSY at writing closures. It seems that these writers read the same Drama Writing 101 book. Why do they throw all of their great stuff near the middle of the series? This is bad because drama fans watch with emotion. With each hop of emotion, it's a bad thing to have the emotion drop as the drama moves forward. In the case of Aoi Tori, I can honestly say you should stop watching after episode 7 or 8 because, as minerva mentioned, the rest is nothing but a lousy excuse for a closure.
In great drama series, writing is like this:
1. You develop the main characters - maybe first two to three episodes.
2. In episodes 2 to 5, you develop the issues - either a conflict, problem, romantic triangle, or whatever.
3. By episode 6 or 7, the writing should have reached its peek so that everyone now knows what the issues are, UNSOLVED.
4. From episode 7 to the end, you solve the issues.
5. The last episode is, for the lack of a better way of saying it, "The sh*t hits the fan!"
Using a cliche... In a lousy 12-episode trendy drama, we already know the butler is the murderer, and he's in prison by episode 7. In great trendy dramas, we don't know the butler did it until the end. If you think about it, great CDs start off with their best song at the beginning, and then finish off strong with a great final track, with their so-so material in between.
Most trendy drama fans will remember the ending more than any other part of the drama. This is the area where most reviewers will decide if the drama hit or miss. So it would be interesting to see if the lousy dramas people list here are a result of bad closure.
