thanx alot for the upload...I was looking forward to this movie.

However, is it possible for you to make the file size smaller?

No, he can't make it smaller for this DVDr release.

However, I have a 700meg xvid/divx version which I could seed, WELL AFTER he's finished seeding this DVDr release if you like.

For though of you with a sharing ratio of 0.3 or lower, please note that you will be ban from the download.

Do you mean WHILE downloading? What about those of us w/ 3mb down and only 256kb up?

EDIT: Just for clarity's sake, I'm not downloading the movie, just wondering.

The reason why he asks for "fast connection only" is that the way BT works, the more people with slow bandwidth or very low sharing ratios, the slower it gets for people with the faster bandwidth. In BT, it's generally a good idea for the faster people to download first (not important for them to finish, but at least to get things started), then when there is a good supply of parts from different people, the slower people can then join in. This is why on the really high-demand torrents, in the beginning things are mega slow because of of the slower people jumping on with just one super-seeder in the mix.

To biguser,

I noticed that the tracker used here is BNBT. Seeing you mentioned the ability to ban a user, exactly how do you go about doing that?

Probably that person will check tracker's statistics with own eyes every now and then, and manually input proper rules to her/his firewall to prevent offenders from future use of the tracker.
A very dedicated person.

To be honest, I’m not looking to ban people from downloading; I love nothing more than to share it with everyone, that’s the whole point of BT anyway. It is just that sometime I see people purposely holdback on their upload, say 1GB DL vs. 30MB UL, and that just upsets me! If it comes to it, I’ll block the IP of those users on my firewall.

Hey Biguser. In looking over your tracker stats, I've noticed a few.
68.66.125.xxx 2.75 MB 617.95 MB 3.72 GB (86%) 0d 04:27 0.004
69.156.172.xxx 66.62 MB 1.16 GB 3.24 GB (75%) 0d 05:39 0.056
66.91.71.xxx 28.43 MB 628.04 MB 3.73 GB (86%) 0d 02:37 0.045

I hate what they're doing as well, but to be honest, it's somewhat useless to ban IPs. Unless they're on static IP addresses, they'll just come back next time with a different IP. And you end up banning someone else who could be a real contributor.

I think the best way is probably to immediately kill off the offender--long before s/he finishes the entire download. But of course that would mean you'd have to be monitoring it all the time, which is not practicle. No easy way to deal with serious leeches unfortunately.

Hey groink,

I know you host the tracker for this site, since I'm new at this stuff, can you suggest a good tracker software for me to use? One that 'auto ban' user based on their UL vs. DL? And preferably not unix? Laugh

Thanks in advance.

Kind of sucks for me... I usually end up leaving BT running until I hit at least a 1.0 ratio. I hope I don't get banned from any future downloads. Sad
