I think it would be great to get a nice list going for those that are new to the scene of kdramas! I'll list mine in a bit! Gotta run! But i'd love to get some input!

Please list what and why you think it is!
Thank You!

I don't want to rewrite everything, but my list is >> http://goldlilys.freehostia.com/forum/korean-entertainment/year-2008-drama-roundup/ . It's more of a review, but you can tell which ones are my favorite and not.

I don't really post on D-addicts, but saw a thread I can contribute to. Here's my top 10:

1. Iljimae - A lot people thought way too much overacting, but hey it's a drama. It's suppose to be over dramatic. Loved all the action. Loved how it had this old school kung fu movie feel. Like Jackie Chan learning the Drunken Fist from his master.

2. Painter in the Wind - Loved every bit and piece of it. Awesome art and scenery, with great story.
3. Hong Gil Dong - Funny as hell.
4. Who are you - Funny and very enjoyable
5. Last Scandal - Jung Joon Ho is so funny in here. Kinda "Full House" ish, but with an Ajumma and Ajushi
6. Fight - Very exciting to watch guys beat each other to a pulp
7. Women in the Sun - The evil sister story.
8. One mom & 3 dads - Not much of a story, but great watch hot guys and a baby is funny.
9. Bitter sweet life - Kinda dark melodrama
10. Strongest Chil woo - This was a good story once you get over the corny stuff.

Others that I partially watched but didn't finish:
East of Eden - The first 12 episodes or so was really good
Gourmet - may go back to finish watching
Tazza - Can't get past the 1st episode
You are my destiny - Looks like a really good drama from watching the first 4 episode, but don't have to time to watch 100+ episode.
Love Marriage - the first nine episode was really great, and then it went boring...

Started in January 2009, so it doesn't count as a 2008 drama.

We aren't talking about this year's dramas.

My favorite from 2008 was My Sweet Seoul. I also watched Hong Gil Dong, which was alright, but I wouldn't say best of the year.
I'm still in the process of watching Beethoven Virus, Painter of the Wind, Worlds Within, When It's at Night, Kingdom of the Wind and Iljimae. Beethoven Virus and Painter of the Wind are really good, Worlds Within is ok, and the rest are watchable.

And since you wanted some comments...

My Sweet Seoul: Not a very complex story, but still interesting. A more of a contemporary story about city life and city people. At first very different from usual kdramas, but no fear, there are dark secrets and melodrama in the end! Laugh

Hong Gil Dong: I like these fusion dramas, since historical dramas on their own can be a bit dull. Kang Ji Hwan was pretty good as Hong Gil Dong and he even delivered a very touching crying scene that I especially liked. Sung Yu Ri was annoying as hell, and Jang Geun Suk, as yummy as he is, was a bit woody in this.

Beethoven Virus: I'm still in episode 12 with this, but it's definitely worth the watch. Good classical music. Kim Myung Min is genius as the slightly psychotic Maestro Gun Woo, and well, Jang Geun Suk is just yummy as the the Gun Woo jr.

Painter of the Wind: Gender-bender! Moon Geun Young is almost too convincing as a young boy, I totally love her! This is definitely the most visually stunning drama I've ever seen and the story is pretty interesting, too. thumleft

Worlds Within: Drama about making dramas. Which is pretty interesting. Still, it doesn't really have a distinct story to it, and the main characters are painfully annoying. The rest of the cast is good.

The rest are a real work in progress, I haven't gotten very far with them, so I won't say anything about them yet.

Pity. I don't know anything from 2008. But That Fool is on my best of all time.

Loved the comment by his sister at the end of the movie that her sister in law got married three times to the same guy. (And still had a white wedding)
