Episode 1 of Konkatsu!
Translation: Rollins
Timing: Crystalle Kil
File name: Konkatsu ep01 (1280x720 DivX6.8.4) [VLC English].avi

http://wwwz.fujitv.co.jp/kon-katsu/index.html
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Konkatsu%21

Please let me know if you have any issues with this hardsub!

This file is not meant for viewing through stream sites! Please do not upload to any form of online streaming!

The subtitles for this file are embedded into the file. They will not show up automatically.

Currently, the only player that has been proven to work on a steady basis is VLC Media Player. It can be found at www.videolan.org/vlc/. I do suggest a download of this player in order to view the subtitles. While you may not have a copy already, VLC Media Player is a lightweight player that can play a variety of media files and is a worthwhile download in most cases. It is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Getting the subtitles to show on the screen is a relatively easy process:

Go to the Video menu and turn on the subtitles (should show up as Track 1):

In addition, you can modify the font that appears on the screen (although you will need access to the actual font file to modify the font shown):

Go to Tools menu and select Preferences:

And then go to the Subtitles section:

I have attached a link to a font that is suggested for viewing: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?judtzdytzmx

Please let me know if you have gotten the subs to work on other players.

Other media players that others have commented as being able to work are:

Mplayer OSX Extended revision 10 - http://mplayerosx.sttz.ch/
Media Player Classic - http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli2/
sm Player - http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/
KMPlayer - http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/

i'm assuming you used some kind of divx-compliant/standard muxer to mux the subs into the divx video? then its similar to how a dvd's subtitles are, just a bunch of bmp's right?

Interesting I have lots of mkv videos with softsubs but I didn't realize you could embed subtitle tracks into AVI format...

I haven't tested your video yet but...

I assume that this didn't require a re-encode of the video?
Can you post any FAQ/links on how to attach subs to AVI?

Thanks a lot for the subtitles!
Does this mean we shouldn't expect softsubs for Konkatsu?

salut salut

It should be similar to how divx subs appear, but it is not a true divx file. The main reason I chose to go with this file type is that it uses the VLC Media Player, which is much more lightweight than DiVX player and (the main reason) it is available for multiple platforms, whereas DiVX seemed to be Windows only.

If there is interest, I'll compile a guide later on how to attach subs to an AVI file. But yes, the video is basically more or less the same as the 1280 version as it was originally presented, just this time with an embedded sub track.

Currently, there are no plans to release softsubs for Konkatsu.

Just a thought here.

File size is a bit big. Is there anyway you can use the more efficient AVC encoding to compress the file size ?

I like mkv/mp4 files using AVC compression. They can be as small as 700 MB and still provide 720p resolution, which is compatible on my PS3.

thanks! but the file is so big T_T.. could you encode to a 704x396 resolution aswell? >< or use mp4 as piston suggested to keep the filesize small :S

edit: since you said encoding isn't needed, i hope you could upload the smaller res too ^^

and is it possible to extract the embedded sub stream?

Thanks a lot!!! Very fast and great work with subbing! Smile
Canīt wanit to watch Aya canīs new drama Smile
The idea with the embedded subs in the file is a great idea, I think. So you can either have the raw and the subs in one file. Before I always had to save both, the HD version and the subbed version.

Yay, thank you. I love your subs. Big Smile
Also wondering if you plan to release 704x396 version? My laptop has trouble to play HD files properly.
