Hi, my Japanese wife and I really enjoy the dramas coming from here - thank you! But, we're planning on having a kid and I though it would be great to collect some children's shows too. I really want my kids to learn Japanese. Are there any here, or any other sites like this for kid's stuff? Is there a place I could buy DVDs?

Any directions appreciated,

David...

How about the 子ども section on the NHK page? http://www3.nhk.or.jp/toppage/navi/children.html. In デジタル教材 you'll find various shows as streams. Unfortunately most of them require some basic Japanese, but わかる国語 might be close to what you're looking for. There's also links to various resources, so maybe you can start from here.

3 questions

1. Why in the world can't I watch the nhk website's streams in firefox? Why in the world do I have to watch it in internet explorer? Uhm... is there a plug in that lets me watch it in firefox?

2. Pitagora suichi! Where can I find this one on-line? Someone linked to a subbed version of this show???? He showed me a subbed version WTF I didn't know great shows like this was subbed. Uhm, I can watch it without subtitles, that cool, but with subtitles is the best. If anyone can help with this I would be very thankful, I didn't see it on the NHK website.... (I think its a NHK show). Please helk me relive my visit to japan, lol.

3. There was a show (educational) that I saw that had ninjas in it. It was live action, not animation. Anyone have any ideas of what the name could be, or where I can find it online.

Thanks for this thread.
Puppet Princess, Thanks for the Tvnihon.com site.

For older kids, sometimes Mini Nova, and Saiyaman.net . They have Anime.
Although Saiyaman seems to be on/off these days.

Sometimes we watch Pithagora's Switch on youtube.com

Ninjas - maybe it was part of Konishiki's "Nihongo de Asobou" from NHK ???
I'm pretty sure they have a small section with ninja's in it.

EDIT to add:
http://yakuyakou.blog69.fc2.com/
is also a source.

Still I think NHK is about the best source for little kids shows.
TVJapan via cable or sattelite would be easiest.
