you shouldnt say good dramas r lame
even if thats ur opinion you should know alot of people will not agree with that and its quite rude, like me u should just praise dramas people hav worked hard on or just dont say anything if its not something nice
Then what is the purpose of opinion? Opinion is both praising and jeering. Its not rude if someone says Kurosagi was lame, it was their opinion.
read their other comment and the person only sed that bcuz this people was sayin that kurosagi was better or summin? I just dont like it when people say bad things about dramas that r acto good just bcuz its being compared to a drama they like, that is also my opinion
But you see, that's your opinion. Just because you don't like what someone said about your favorite drama doesn't give you the right to tell them what they can or can not say. If you don't like what they said, ignore them, our counter it with a logical reasoning as to why you think such and such drama isn't bad.
If I got pissed off for every single person that said one of my favorite dramas were crap, I wouldn't be in this fandom very long, or would I?

I don't think this drama is comparable to Kurosagi, or even Maou. Higashino Keigo's mystery stories has its own class. So I'd rather compare this with other Higashino-sensei's works, e.g Byakuyakou, Galileo, or g@me... I prefer to compare it with Byakuyakou... I think the theme is closer... youth, childhood trauma and revenge.
From Japanese blogs, all I read our praisal and positive comments from Japanese people who has read the book. Some said its one of Higashino's Best 5. Some who wasn't satisfied with Higashino's previous piece, didn't expect much from this one, but turned out they like this one very much. They said, its such a touching and awesome story, that made them cry even just by reading it.
However, Kudo Kankuro said, they've prepared a surprising ending which is different than the novel's ending, for the drama. And also, since people who has read the novel already know the murderer, the drama will focus on how to show the audience the beauty of the siblings' love and bond, how they grow to adults and how they solve their differences.
Most people who read the novel were really moved with the strong bond between the siblings, just like the title, the story really focus on the siblings' bond.
Just a bit more info on the characters...
Koichi was 11 when their parents got murdered. He is very smart and a genius.
Taisuke was 9 when their parents got murdered. He is a very kind and nice(yasashii) brother.
Shizuna was 6 when their parents got murdered. She is kinda spoiled/selfish but very brave.
Can't wait to see Nino as "Aniki" (eldest brother)!! And really looking forward to Nino-Ryo-Erika's chemistry as siblings.
I think I'm getting the novel too... since Kankuro-san said the ending will be different than the novel...

Ah, so g@me was one of his works? That movie was pretty good, I should rewatch it to get a feel of it. The suspense did have me on my feet.
Yup, loved that movie! Also Hirosue Ryoko's 98 movie, Himitsu; Yamada Takayuki-Sawajiri Erika's Tegami; and NHK drama, Tokio (Kokubun Taichi and Sakurai Sho), these are also based on Higashino's novels.

so i dont think that people hard work of creating it can be described with just one word, especially not that word..
sorry, but that was my personal opinion on that particular drama. Although it does revolve around the same attractive subject (eg. swindling & revenge), the scriptwriter, book adaptation and actors themselves promises a better performance. Sorry for the rant but that was because i've read others who commented that this is "a poor man's version of Kurosagi" which it is definitely NOT.
and i still think Kurosagi is lame... well more than lame but people get offended by the word "crap" and blatant spew of rant
Thanks yanie for the plot spoilers. Lovely.
I've watched G@me and a little bit of Galileo but this one sounds a bit more angsty.. maybe not as angsty as Byakuyakou. I'm more curious on Kudokan take on Higashino Keigo's story. Hoping that he'll insert his quirky flair in this like all of his previous dramas (Tiger & Dragon, Kisarazu Cat's Eye, IWGP etc..etc..). Particularly excited that Nino got to work with both writers . He's known for taking extra care to bring out the chemistry needed for the characters in his drama (read about it on a H magazine interview) so I'm sure he'll be an awesome "aniki"

Ha... quirky flair... sou da ne~ I wonder how a writer like KudoKan handle Higashino's mystery stories... they're of totally different genres, I believe. Should be interesting indeed to look forward to
Anyway, a result of lurking 2ch... Fans are talking about who should be Togami Yukinari, the 28 years old executive, that Toda Erika's character fallen in love with. From readers comments, it seem like Yukinari is a very likeable character and had moving lines/scenes towards the ending, some even favorited this character more than the siblings. A rumor stated its gonna be Eita, another rumor stated Narimiya Hiroki and another one, Tsukamoto Takashi. Most fans think Eita suits the role the most and really hoping Eita will be casted for the role. (me too, Eita kudasai! xD)
An interesting opinion by some fans, that Nino and Ryo looks too different to be brothers, and think that TBS should've cast the Matsuda brothers instead^^ Hmm... I definitely don't hate that idea Ryuhei and Shota's ages suits the characters perfectly too.

Too perfect would make it just a wee bit predictable. If people just go with the flow, I/we might not get a chance to see Ohno as Maou. In making an impact they have to take some risk so I'm ok with Nino/Ryo (umm.. actually Nino/whoever will do for me ). As for their looks.. Ryo looking Nino-ish. I'm worried with Ryo performance though.. ^^;;;. He better not be a Yamasagi

IWGP was a mystery I think.. I didn't finish it ^^;;;. Kudokan specialty are stories that involves male bonding / friendship theme and since this one will be focusing on the siblings relationship, I'm hoping he'll be able to put his twist on it.

great rumor
i hope they pick Eita too eventhough it is not lead role
though i also like Nari and Taka but it would be great if they pick Eita
would be interesting to c Erika with Eita as a change...
yeah it would be great if someday Shota and Ryuhei act together

They could try and make Ryo look like Nino, but they can't do much about the fact that Ryo has a very, uh, large nose, broader chin, and double eyelids.
Nino is standard Japanese, Ryo could sometimes pass for at least a half/quarter.
I wonder how costuming/make up is gonna work this.

A summary of the first scene in the novel...
Hidden:
The 6th grader, Koichi is climbing down from the window on the house's 2nd floor. His younger brother, Taisuke, follows him from behind.
Then suddenly their little sister, Shizuna called them and said, "Shii wants to go too!!" while crying, so they take her with them too. They are going to see the Perseids meteor shower.
However, the weather was bad, so they didn't get to see the meteor shower.
The eldest child is carrying his sleeping sister on his back. The second child is pushing the bicycle. They are going home.

Will there be MQ releases for this project? I noticed STORMY only releases Maou in HQ, which is literally impossible for me to watch on this computer without lagging. Will their be any compassion to us running on extinct dinosaurs for computers?
Yep! We'll be releasing a 704 and a 1280 version of the series.
i think the problem is with using the x264 codec? the high res works fine in my old laptop but not for my sis brand new one... weird. Mutated codec should not be used imo XP, it'll just create frustration for a large number of rule minding people.
aah.. yanie spoilers.. i just can't resist. ^^;;;
she's perfect as chibi Shizuna

Well... no additional official informations yet... but I'll try to add some more detailed info of the official infos so far, some rumors and the novel readers opinions.
1. Original book author: Higashino Keigo
Also the original author of Himitsu (made into a movie in 98 starring Hirosue Ryoko), Tegami(a movie starring Yamada Takayuki & Sawajiri Erika), g@me, Byakuyakou, and Galileo.
2. Screenwriter: Kudo Kankuro
Also the screenwriter of IWGP, Rocket Boy, Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Boku no Mahou Tsukai, Manhattan Love Story, Tiger & Dragon, etc.
3. Producers: Nasuda Jun: Byakuyakou, Namida Sousou, Satomi Hakkenden, Cheap Love, etc.
Isoyama Aki: Tengoku ni Ichiban Chikai Otoko, IWGP, Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Manhattan Love Story, Tiger & Dragon, Uta-hime, Tokkyu Tanaka 3-gou, etc.
4. Directors:
Kaneko Fuminori: Keizoku, IWGP, Handoku, Tengoku ni Ichiban Chikai Otoko, Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Suekko Chonan Ane Sannin, Tiger & Dragon, etc.
Ishii Yasuharu: Tengoku ni Ichiban Chikai Otoko, Sekai no Chuushin de Ai wo Sakebu, M no Higeki, Hana Yori Dango, Byakuyakou, Kurosagi, Yamada Taro Monogatari, etc.
RUMORS:
1. According to some fans in 2ch's Nino and Toda Erika's threads, they have started the filming since a week ago. But another rumor said, the filming started right on August 12th, which was the peak night where the Perseids meteor shower can be seen clearly.
2. Seem like KudoKan will add more characters which doesn't exist in the original book.
NOVEL READERS' OPINIONS:
1. The focus of the character in the original, is in this order: Koichi(Nino) > Shizuna(Erika) > Shizuna's love interest > Taisuke(Ryo)
2. It doesn't need much of acting skill to be Taisuke, the 2nd brother. Although the actor and the actress who plays Koichi and Shizuna has to has very good acting abilities. But Koichi and Taisuke's conversations are always interesting/funny, so it would be better if Nino and Ryo has good chemistry as brothers.
