I'm glad the two of us can hardsub this series (I'm doing larger encodes, so won't appeal as much to some trying to safe room, using 1280 source).
Wish you the best on ep 3 and other projects |
Somehow I ended up joining great fansub group. I am only the last guy in the fansub relay team. The other members do all of the heavy lifting in timing, translating, editing, and etc. With mhaellix doing most of the work. I only provide the computer to encode the video and bandwidth to seed it.
You know what they say. Size doesn't matter. The file size will follow the data bitrate. So longer running time, will have a bigger size. One of my petpeeves that some fansub grousp will always put out 700Mb video no matter what the total running time is. The other is using the wrong resize filter to resize from higher resolution source.
After working on some many fansub series and capturing/converting many other local broadcast shows, I found certain data rate works well for certain video resolution.
Anyway, I gave some suggestion to another fansub encoder on how to improve the video quality of hardsub video. So if anyone else interest what those suggestions are, just PM me.

Thank you!
I had a problem today, ( took a sample and it turned out to be choppy, did a resize with bicubic I believe, ended up going with an insanely high bitrate, well had to go out and when got back home too late, so just decided to go with what I have Originally I planned on releasing 400mb chunks and like 700 for the hour long ones)
I'm sure glad that we got this community, people learn from one another and help one another out and we manage to reach our goals
Keep it up!

I would recommend using Precise bilinear when down sizing. The regular bicubic should only be use for up sizing. Although there are other better filters for up sizing. One of Precise bicubic filters can produce sharp images in down sizing, but it should only be use with higher data rate, you can tell I don't use this filter, since I don't go too high on data rate.
