Pauli~ I you~
Um... what was the topic? (Pauli distracted me.)
Right. Fansubbing groups formed by not just new fansubbers, but people who have never subbed before. That's kind of like uneducated people starting a school. Or having children run the government. Or any sort of organization where the leaders are completely inexperienced in the process. Notice, I said inexperienced, not ignorant... I know that you could have done your research, but factual knowledge is not the same as experience.
I'm not saying it's wrong. I'm just saying it's a risky venture with very bad odds. Go for it if you want, and feel free to ask any questions if you get them. But on the other hand, please do not make judgments about how much better you can fansub until you have something under your belt.
Once you've subbed a series quickly, accurately, and in high quality, then by all means, brag all you want, and advice us on how to get things done better (absolutely no sarcasm there).

Like a moth to a flame I'm drawn back into this thread.
One minor side point before I get started:
| XiaoPauli wrote: | | Having a minority of non-fansubbers, whom are not familiar... |
It's who, dear. Whom is used in the objective case.
Now for the meat of this little post:
| ethidda wrote: | | Notice, I said inexperienced, not ignorant... I know that you could have done your research, but factual knowledge is not the same as experience. |
I'd say the statement that triggered this latest tangent on our hijacked thread here fits squarely in the category of ignorant, since the word also means lacking awareness.

If you lack the conviction or the awareness of the words you chose then I have no qualms with calling someone ignorant or properly applying a little sarcasm. Point your quivering finger and I'll take care of them for you. In fact, let me demonstrate (Consider this your working GroinK. I don't want to be held accountable for any Coke snorting):
| XiaoPauli wrote: | | But for those comments to come from a fellow (potential?) fansubber was a bit saddening. My comments were harsher than what was called for, but some of the severity in my statement stemmed from the apathy of other fansubbers not calling out BlueMidnightBaroque on that particular comment. |
Yes, I advocate that we all jump down the throats of everyone who makes a statement that might offend our sensitivities as honored and noble fansubbers. Personnally, I don't care one iota for what BlueMidnightBaroque said in some little banal statement.
| XiaoPauli wrote: | | In the end, it's all about community love. |
I'm not sure I can even touch that one, especially when it stands in such beautifully stark contrast to your indignation at your fellow subbers without further comment from me.

hmm... gnoss, maybe you need a widdle ?
^.^
Other than that, I didn't really understand any of your post.

<.<
But ignorance doesn't bother me unless it's in other people. And yes, I am a hypocrite. (Wait, but saying that makes me not a hypocrite... what a paradox. Well, let's just say I have double standards.)
I'm off to watch all my favorite dramas... with chinese subs!

@ ed I'm not love depraved enough to go seeking it on the internet in the form of emoticons just yet. Thanks
@lilpauli You're right, and I've adapted a philosophy that allows you to be right about that 100% of the time.

That's beautiful because I truly have no response for that. Now run along and make yourself another banner. _________________ BadasSubs, For the Hello of it™
