Hello Mr or Miss Abyssmalfate.

Subbing dramas is a laudable enterprise, and producing alternate versions for already subbed ones is an entirely valid one, as it seems it has been agreed on by the community here.

What is not at all praiseworthy, in fact just the opposite, is taking someone else's hard work, editing it somewhat (and badly at that, with elementary spelling mistakes and the like), and passing it as your own. That is shameful, my dear, and a disgrace.

Having compared the file posted on your forum with the subs released by my team, Airashii FanSubs, last year, one thing is clear: your so-called 'fansubbing' is a rip-off of our work, and a badly done rip-off, at that.

Why take up fansubbing a series, if it's already being done, and at a much better quality than your English seems to allow? If your reasons are good enough for you, then ok, do it. But since you have claimed that you, by yourself, are going to do the fansubbing, then please don't steal our hard work.

As I have already announced on the original Seito Shokun subs thread, I also plan to edit and use for future releases subs that were not made by our team. But I made it clear to everyone what our source will be, and that will be reflected in the credits within the sub file. Giving proper credits has always been my care, as you can see from the subs I have published so far.

Whereas you, my dear, dare to put your name on something you have stolen.

Subs are free to circulate, all right. But give credit where credit is due - and don't claim something as your own, when only cutting some words out and putting numerous spelling mistakes in is what you've done.

I expect public apologies for this shameful deed. And make sure to take down those bad, stolen subs, from your forum, please.

I am shocked.

You have taken on many projects, which is okay. Even if you don't finish all or any of them. Fansubbing is a hobby after all, and nobody here has any obligation to fansub. If life gets busy, or it's not what you enjoy, then it's perfectly alright to drop a project. It's not like school or work where you HAVE to finish up something. This is a voluntary community where we'd like for everybody to do what they said they'd do, but nobody is obligated, and we understand that.

HOWEVER, it is completely UNACCEPTABLE to steal someone else's subs and claim credit. That is now an issue of morals and ethics. If other people have done the subs--the translating, the timing, the editing, etc any of it!.--you have to give them the credit (and ideally get their permission. And you are stealing, in every sense of the word, by taking something that is not yours and acting like it is. Like Liantasse said, if you would like to edit subs, make you sure have the permission and give proper credit (and ideally edit it only if it's necessary).

I hope this was an honest mistake, some misunderstanding of sorts, either on your end or on our end. But if not, you most certainly owe Liantasse an apology.

What a troublesome farce this all is.

Since you don't seem to want to work with your other fansub groups, Melanie or Ueda-chan or Demongoddess0991, I guess you wanted to form yet another one on your own. If you are going to try something like this you should at least be creative enough to come up with an ID you haven't used, say on livejournal, and link to your old site for song lyrics.

This is all very sloppy and sad. It's one thing if you were new and didn't know anything about this, but it's a whole other thing to know what it's all about and still do this. This is far from an honest mistake.

I don't know if you expect us all to just sit here and be indignant about the whole thing, but that's not quite fair now is it? Everyone can just come to you instead, if it's too much trouble for you to make it here.

I was willing to give abyssmalfate the benefit of the doubt despite the sheer arrogance of her first post. But to take someone else's work and pass it off as her own is downright despicable.

@ abyssmalfate -- Shame on you. SHAME~ It would do you well to come clean. Make that public apology. Otherwise, there might be a resort to torches and pitchforks... There's too much evidence against you which cannot be overturned by a bare denial. Elementary, my dear Watson.

I think the mods should lock this thread. There's really no point in leaving this topic open since it's obvious the fansubber hasn't been releasing her "own" subtitles much less work on all the dramas she listed in the first post.
