Greetings all, we have setup an account with a new provider and are making some changes to our process.
Please note our new process may have you experiencing delays in file availability. If a file does not appear for more than 24 hours please draw attention to it. Otherwise, we ask for your continued patience.
The raw source Japanese subs can now be found here: http://jpsubbers.x10.mx/Japanese-Subtitles/
Thanks!

Ggenglish, I have a question - I don't see many specials on the site. Do you guys as a rule not upload many drama specials? If so, do you know of anyone else that does, or could you tell me how you get your subs? I'm in Japan, and can read japanese a little, so maybe I can start getting subs you don't upload on my own and share then... I was looking for the JPN subs for the special that aired last night (Majutsu wa Sasayaku) because I was interested in subbing it, but I really don't know where to start looking beyond your site.
Anyways, thanks for all your hard work!

Ggenglish is not the one that records and extracts the JP subs, so he has no control of whether specials get recorded or not.
If you are able to record and extract JP subs for drama specials that would be wonderful as we can see more specials get subbed

Ahhh, So you record from your tv and then somehow extract the subs? Unfortunately, the new digital tvs are so expensive, I can't afford one yet.
How do you learn how to extract subs, though? I assume you record the show with CC on, then somehow remove the hardsub...or something? lol, sorry, I really don't know much about the tech side, but I'm willing to learn

Perhaps this information is any help you
| Quote: | For more information on these Japanese subs or if you want to contribute by fixing the subs of a show visit:
http://fansub.d-addicts.com/Qop123_project
Now with a video tutorial!
Note from qop123:
These Japanese subs are extracted from the original broadcast data with a program called "Caption2Ass_mod1" found here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WU6UMFG9
To display Japanese subs on Windows, East Asian Language needs to have been installed, and at the option of the player, a Japanese or Unicode font needs to be selected.
(If you are using DirectVobSub filter to display subs, when you play a video with a sub, a green yellow appears at the right bottom corner of Windows. You can configure options from here. The Lucida Sans Unicode font can display subs whether they are in Japanese, Korean or Chinese, as long as the text encoding is in Unicode, and qop123 uses this Lucida Sans Unicode font, with the setting of Bold, 36.)
The text encoding is in UTF-8. If UTF-8 doesn't work, sometimes changing it to UTF-16 solves the problem.
These Japanese subs are free to use. You can use them to translate into another language, or can redistribute them in another place, or can do whatever you find useful, freely as you like.
As many as Japanese subs are uploaded as far as possible, but future Japanese subs are not guaranteed. This work might stop anytime, though as much as it is hoped that it won't.
This Japanese subs extraction is coordinated by qop123, and those who are interested in Japanese subs for other dramas, and can manage to shift times for CMs and check the subs with raw videos and upload them to DA are welcome to send qop123 a private message. |
or you may be able to take advantage of this program

Thank you! Just to clarify... can the subs be "recovered" from ANY avi file? As in any file uploaded here? Or only from ones where you can actually see japanese subs already?

here's the guide
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_58171.htm
basically you capture the broadcasts using the above guide, then you run caption2assmod to convert any closed captions from the recorded broadcast (.ts files) to srt.

I have the TS recording. I think to be able to extract subs if you need them.
PM your email and I will send it to you.

| It seems the one that manages the jp sub archive made a mistake when he/she shifted the subs of the summer season into the 2012 folder as I can't find those anymore. Lucky I got the dragon seinendan subs for translating beforehand. But there might be some others looking for it, so I though of pointing it out.
