Thanks |
The only case that this could happen is to actually release a commercial product with the subtitles so I won't care for the copyrights etc... This could happen in the near future so stand by. Don't forget though that there are tons of advandages when doing hardsubs, like the option to pre-select a nice font (that the user might not have) or putting effects (like growing letters, changing position etc...) and of course our group's and the "NOT FOR SALE" watermark. I know that anybody can just sit down and rewrite (transcribe) the subtitles but that would not make us any happy. Sorry again for making everybody redownloading the whole files.
NOTE: If I see the online illegal drama sellers (in eBay etc...) change their tactics and stop selling at least the groups' releases (that we put so much effort on and they don't respect it) then I might start releasing in soft-subbs or full 1:1 DVD versions with the English subtitles as DVD selectable subtitles which is the ideal.

The text inserted on the video creates the new additional data. That data is actually quite a lot since the subtitles are displayed from the beggining to the end of the episode and are actually covering a quite large area... There is no-subtitles optimized codec for the moment (that would smartly just keep those pixels in place) so the subtitles are rendered for each frame if what's around the subs is moving (I mean in the original video) because the codec doesn't really know that this is a completely unchangable text (well for some seconds). Therefore the 100MBs extra file size...
