it was never a question whether they could sub zettai kareshi, only if they could start at episode two...
(it is still a rule that you have to begin at episode one, Justex' permission to continue his subs made this case an exception)
the rule you're referring to hasn't changed, several versions of a single series have been allowed for a long time now...
this draft just places more emphasis on it because it appears a lot of people were not aware of this fact...

yeah you could, but still I don't think that it is a good thing, the last thing the fansubbing community really needs it is lot of drama, please let the drama happend in the series, and let us be buds and join forces instead of using our energy on wars, I thought that humanity should have learned something from its stupid warmongering leaders, but I guess it's not that easy...

why is it not a good thing?? softsubs and hardsubs are completely different, and theres nobody doing softsubs yet... Justex is only doing the 1st episode.. and he already gave permission for them to use it.. so its up to the subbers to decide, not your decision

so i'm not sure which warmongering you'd be referring to... sweating

@ironicwave I think that's comment was directed at yours truly in reference to a book title I included in my post 芽むしり仔撃ち (Nip the Buds, Shoot the Kids) by Oe Kenzaburo, which I'm guessing torerling hasn't read or the reference might not be so offensive. Not particularly a pro-war book. It's a lot like Lord of the Flies, which came out the following year.

Hmm I think that you all have good points but I really wanted to get into fansubbing by doing a show that I really wanted to do, and right now that's Zettai. I also wouldn't mind joining an existing group or starting one its really the fact that I wanna sub Zettai as my first one in softsubs of course. But gnossienneslent is right there are also alot of shows that arenet being subbed that I'd also like to do. There was a few from the list and a few others I have book marked. Also about the list thats for in the future all I want or need right now to start a group is a translator I can do the rest that is untill we started doing more projects.

Yup I kind of have the problem that there is too much I like that doesn't get subbed, but I have kind of a strange taste ;)

We had this type of situation in the tokusatsu (live action special effects) sub world. Honestly, I believe that any group can start a sub as long as they start from episode one.

It's not OUR show and its not like we bought the sole licensing rights to this show. We are fans and if one group of fans want to sub a show because they were a fan of the manga (like me) then let them do it. Its not our right to say who or who can not sub a series.

Anyway, on that note, I should finish Princess Princess D.... god, sucks when members of a sub group go on hiatus and you're the only one left. D:

not really slow? Episode one has already been released~
They usually release at a pretty good speed.

Even if they do take a long time, they are releasing quality subs, y'know~

ahhh... guys... let's not start an argument. Smile

looking at another angle..
what she said could simply mean that hardsubs will take longer (typesetting, encoding etc) while softsubs will only need translating, editing and timing.
which is....... kinda true.
i, personally... always liked hardsubs better since i frequently misplace the srt files.
hehe.

BlueMidnightBaroque: i suggest you be careful with your choice of words here. Smile things can be misunderstood, can turn really ugly.

it helps a subber if his/her attitude is somewhat laid back...
i don't think BlueMidnightBaroque's intent was to insult anyone and i think if you look at all the "you should"s and "you shouldn't"s in this thread you can see why i personally think fansubbers and their supporters need to take the "endangered species" act down a notch...
none of us at sars took offense and nobody else needs to, either...
be nice to people... Smile
