Why do TAIGA dramas end with story that has a ending where the main guy dies no happily ever after stuff.
SHINSENGUMI the guy dies
YOSHITSUNE the guy dies
FUURIN KAZAN the guy dies
ATSU_HIME IDK

Because when it comes to historical taigas, the dramas tell the whole life of the main character. Hojo Tokimune died too at the end and the viewer even knew that fact from the very first episode that he'll die at the age of 34.
But, you're right. When it comes to drama, the japanese aren't well known for happy endings. I like it this way. We have Hollywood for happy endings.
