The site must've hicupped in some way... Scary to not see Juri-chan's thread.
|
Yeah, I got a scare when her thread was completely missing - from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd page! Luckily it could be found in the index thread..

Itai... Sandler??
I despise him... Will Ferrell, too.
Bleah.

Sandler is a love or hate him type of actor - they ellicit strong feelings from viewers, pretty much the same as Jim Carrey.

She's a strong individual and a role to complement that would be perfect... I'd love to see her in a police drama or a something where she's really intelligent/creative... Like Nodame.
But maybe a little neater. |
Sounds good to me.
About Juri's ever changing looks from Swing Girls and her earlier works to Nodame Cantabile and Last Friends, she has definitely lost a lot of baby fat (especially obvious in Josee, Tiger and the Fish). She was so adorable with those rosy, full cheeks but her features are more defined now which makes her prettier. Also agree with ^Yuuki that Juri's eyebrows has an effect too (she may have overplucked her brows for Ruka, makes her look fierce. lol).
Here's a clip of teenage Juri rehearsing for her role in Josee, Tiger and the Fish. Kawaii..

Juri has good teeth overall, if you ask me. Beside her slightly protruding right tooth, the rest of her teeth are quite aligned (including bottom row). It's true that Japanese girls on the whole seem to have more crooked teeth than other asians (may be generalising here, but I'm just comparing Japanese stars to other asian stars). I read somewhere that Japanese people think that girls with slightly crooked teeth are charming? That, plus they don't fancy wearing braces growing up, which can be a pain.
With all this talk on teeth, it's interesting that Juri got second place on a poll for nice teeth.

Oricon: nice teeth
Thu, November 8, 2007 (6:48pm EST)
While the Best Smile of the Year awards were handed out on Thursday, Oricon published the results of a survey asking 1,000 men and women which celebrities they think have nice teeth.
Tsuyoshi Shinjo was the overwhelming favorite in the men's category. The next closest were Mikihisa Azuma, Masaharu Fukuyama, Kenji Sakaguchi, Mocomichi Hayami, Yuji Oda, Gackt, Koichi Domoto, Masaru Nagai, and Sanma Akashiya.
Meanwhile, Yukie Nakama's teeth topped the women's category, coming out ahead of #2 Juri Ueno and #3 Nanako Matsushima. The rest of the top ten were Aya Ueto, Masami Nagasawa (who won the Best Smile of the Year award), Saki Takaoka, Ayumi Hamasaki, Yui Aragaki, Masami Hisamoto, and Yu Yamada.

She can certainly use her 'chameleoness' in a spy/secret agent kinda show. It can be totally serious or wacky as long as she's the main character. =3

Yeah, looks more mature too. Certainly a big change from the 'innocent village girl' kinda look with the thick brows from before(hehe, just my impression).

Lol. Interesting news indeed. I do think that she looks charming with that slightly protruding canine tooth.
Btw, ever seen Juri-chan cheerleading? A saw short glimpse from this short making/promo vid of Gu Gu Datte Neko de Aru: Download me~
(half of it is advertisement on kitty toilet...-_-;;)
And some pretty scans: Juri in Circus~

It's from Chirusoku no Natsu. A 2003 movie if I'm not mistaken. I've yet to watch it. No subs...^^;
Wanko The Movie 2 DVD cover~!!
From Amazon Japan~

Seems like other than the 4 episodes of the doggie stories, there's a special segment called "Ueno Juri in Wanko 2". Something like a behind the scenes plus interviews I think. Also an interview with Ikimonogakari, the group who sang the theme song. 3 more days till the release. =)

I've been to every Asian country except India, Bangladesh and Pakistan (and maybe some of the more obscure ones I'm forgetting), and I have to say that Japanese girls, in general, have the worst teeth.
And about the charming thing, as far as I know it is still quite prevalent today, but many of my friends are starting to consider getting braces, so maybe in the next decade or so, dental hygiene among girls in Japan will improve.

She's certainly blossomed from an 'innocent village girl look + hair' to an attractive modern young lady. Nodame has a refined sophistication in her simple style (befitting a classical musician), excluding the times she looks like a hobo when she forgets to bathe, that is. Ruka is gorgeous and edgy (especially love the way Juri looked in the press con when the whole cast wore white).
ROTFL....what's with the pink boa feather on her head while dancing?
Here's another clip of Juri dancing. LoL.

Summer Time Machine Blues press con....Juri applies make-up for herself. hehee, she and her best friend (forgot her name) are very cute giggling together.

Eita "channeling" John Lennon (or challenging Odagiri Joe for wackiest hair?)

Juri loves her food....lol. She looks alluring and feminine with wavy bangs.

Like bmw said, maybe it's not too late for some of us to consider a career change to dentistry and move to Japan.
