Hey, what happened to Juri's thread? scratch I was so surprised to see her thread missing from the first page...lol, that has never happened before! Blink

That scene was quite satisfying to watch eh? Someone should make a gif of it, like the Sousuke tag gif. Wicked. Laugh

Hiroshi-kun earned my respect with Nodame and Heavenly Forest... thumleft

Yeah, the excitement would be astronomical, but everyone would be hoping for a Nodame-like relationship, which might not be the case in a different story.

An example of this would be Sleepless in Seattle: A great match-up between Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, but their next pairing in you've Got Mail was disappointing...

Speaking of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, it's funny that many think of Sleepless in Seattle as their first match-up, but it was really Joe Versus the Volcano. Smile Most people I know who saw JVTV found it a fluffy silly movie but I actually enjoyed it more than Sleepless in Seattle (so sappy, yet they didn't even meet until the end?! Argg.). lol.

Back to Hiroshi and Juri, yeah we don't want to spoil our beautiful memories of this couple by having a weak follow-up vehicle for them. It's got to be something special. I'd love to see them rekindle their chemistry in something new. Who knows, they could be the J-drama/movie equivalent of classic screen couples Astaire & Rogers, Tracy & Hepburn, or the poor man's version of Hollywood's Golden Couple - Sandler & Barrymore? Big Smile

Here's a question: why does she even need to be paired up? Given the right script and director, she should be able to carry a drama on her own, ne?

I've said this before, but if Last Friends was all about her, her GID issues, and her Motocross career, that would've rocked big time... From what we saw in her performance, she could've pulled it off with ease. thumleft

Absolutely agree. thumleft Last Friends would have been infinitely better if they'd cut down on the side characters and focused more deeply on one or two main characters and their issues. A drama built entirely around Ruka and her issues would be awesome, even if the ratings wouldn't be as high (without the JE fangirl viewership, lol). Juri has the acting ability to carry a drama on her own, and a famous supporting cast isn't necessary to make a meaningful drama. Just like what Karina did with Daisuki!! (wonderful drama, more touching than Last Friends), I'd love to see Juri carry a drama on her own with a challenging role like that.

The site must've hicupped in some way... Scary to not see Juri-chan's thread. sweating

Still, it was a great movie... Probably my favorite chick movie.

You left out Bogart and Bacall. Tongue

Itai... Sandler??

I despise him... Will Ferrell, too.

Bleah.

I think Juri-chan deserves the chance... Given the right role/story.

She's a strong individual and a role to complement that would be perfect... I'd love to see her in a police drama or a something where she's really intelligent/creative... Like Nodame.

But maybe a little neater. Laugh

i'm just wondering (sorry if it's a little bit sensitive Tongue ), did she have any plastic surgery or it's just a process of maturity? she seems different from Swing Girls to Nodame.. i know that many japanese and korean actresses do it, but personally i don't think she did.. Laugh Laugh

She was 17-18 in "Swing Girls" and around 20 in Nodame. I don't think anything was done, except maybe a tooth pulled. Most people still change their appearance somewhat between those ages. She looks very different between "Joze" and "Swing Girls" too. Juri-chan also has a way of changing her appearance to suit a role. If you look at Nodame and compare her to Ruka, I'd say Ruka looks a lot older than Nodame. But when you look at pictures from Naoko you'll see that she still looks pretty much the same age as she did in Nodame.

I guess when you see enough pictures/movies/dramas of Juri-chan you'll realize that she can change her look like a chameleon, but always look gorgeous. Wub

Yeah. Ruka is probably the most different from how she looked during Swing Girls. I believe Juri is someone who can use different combinations of hairstyle, makeup and wardrobe(and eyebrows...) to enhance the roles that she plays. She knows that and mentioned before that it's fun playing with different colours, style and fashion. Of course, the most amazing thing is still the way she 'becomes' the role itself. The way she talks, acts and her expressions. I think it's the combination of all that that makes up her 'chameleon' properties. Heheh. Cool

You kinda get different feelings with each picture of Juri you see~

I don't even think that tooth was pulled: just straightened out/adjusted a bit with some kind of orthodontic device...

I think she became skinnier in 2005-ish, hence no more chubby cheeks like in Josee, Swing Girls and Orange Days era.

I used to have really terrible teeth, sort of like hers, but on the bottom right side. Instead of having it straightened somehow (I don't think it's possible. Teeth become like that because there isn't enough space in your jaw), I had the tooth pulled, and within weeks the rest of my teeth readjusted. Now it looks like nothing was ever wrong with my teeth.

Not saying it was definitely a pull job, but it's probably the most likely. Not that it's a bad thing. Dental hygiene is important; something some Japanese neglect (I don't understand why Japanese guys like the crooked teeth look. At least that's what they told me when I asked about it).

lol, they do?
i think it's just a thing about a negligence of dental hygiene. I know my parents didn't have any braces or whatever of the sort. Neither did I. It's just not as common of a practice as it is in North America.

Uh, at least that's what my Japanese friends told me. Mr. Green I'm sure it doesn't apply for everyone though. There's gotta be a better reason than negligence to make them tolerate having such horrible teeth. Laugh

That's from growing up. Mr. Green

I didn't think she was very chubby-cheeked in Swing Girls... scratch
