Hi all,

I'm just wondering... Would you watch a drama contains sexually explicit contents (not just nudity, but also explicit sexual intercourse)? Let's say that the story is appealing... Would you watch it?

Just curious...

If a show depicts graphic sexual intercourse it's usually porn you know. I can't think of a single non-porn that does that. Even in Requiem for a Dream the genitals were never actually depicted...

So what you are asking is, "do you watch porn?"

Eh no... Actually, I am not aware of such drama. Well, porn typically only consists of depictions of sexual intercourse and nothing more. No plot, no nothing. Zilch. Nada. I was thinking of something that plot is existent (and not corny nor blase). There are some animes like that. There are some fans for that category too...

Maybe you should have added a new catagory "Don't really care-I watch everything" since I will watch any dorama even if it has explicit sexual content or not.It all depends on how much of an interest i have for the story. If it is just the a constant Wham Bam Thankyou Mam with no substance, then might decide not to watch it anymore

So if you mean shows that depict sexual situations (like a couple getting in bed, presumably they are having/will have sex but it's under the sheets) then sure I'll watch it.

Heck, lots of Japanese dramas have that. Kemonomichi, Byakuyako from last reason had those scenes.

Nudity on the other hand, that'll be harder to find simply because the actors/actresses are reluctant to undress (for understandable reasons). Hmm, Tokumei kakaricho: Tadano Jin had some if I recall.

One of the reasons I like Korean and Japanese drama so much is because they aren't sexually explicit at all. It forces them to have good storytelling, instead of alot of American tv which often substitutes sex or violence for good plot.

If I wanted to watch porn, I wouldn't hang out at d-addicts.

Typical porn does not have plots whatsoever. It's just sex and sex and nothing more. That's not a drama.

What I mean here is that if there are some nudity, heck, even sexual intercourse scenes (say, after a great romance and/or affair), and not just on bed / under sheets -- would you still watch it? (Assuming it has quite a good plot and the actors/actresses are willing to undress / do the scenes)

I would say: watch it if the story is good. I remember a while ago, I decided to watch a Korean movie intitled "Lovers" well, it was a big disappointement, coz a lot of sex and a weak plot. At the end I regretted having waste my time for such a mess. I'm starting to like dramas with basic sexual content, usually the more they want to show, the worst the drama is... but this is not a generality tho'

i would. i agree with the people who were saying that shows often substitute sex and violence for a real plot, and i don't like that either, but i think it might be nice if japanese and korean dramas showed a little bit more than they currently do. just sayin'. Mr. Green

I voted no on this one. I don't know if I would still watch it, knowing it would a love-making scene or something of the sort. I think the way it is now is fine.

I think the problem with involving explicit sexual content in any written scenario with a plot is that the sexual content will ALWAYS pull away from the plot. When writing dramas, the plot should hold the most weight. Same thing goes with the characters... If the character shines "too much", he too distracts the viewer from the plot. This is why I think the TV Tokyo midnight dramas are a TOTAL JOKE. These dramas are the closest thing you'll find to a pornographic drama with a plot. The completed download statistics for shows like Jyouou and 2nd House is further evidence that when even the slightest of sexual content is introduced, the total attaction to the drama is the sexual content. It may work for Internet-based drama fans, but in Japan it is FAR from ready to introduce this type of content during prime-time.

I'm still trying to find the drama where Tokiwa Takako appeared topless, if that tells you where I stand on the issue....

It's funny how some actresses never seem to have sex (or at least isn't mentioned) in their shows, while others are getting it on somewhere in just about every one. Didn't hit me until much later that "My Sassy Girl" and "Winter Sonata", along with "Summer Scent" didn't even have a kissing scene, let alone sex. Didn't distract from them at all. On the other hand, Han Ga In has knocked some boots in every drama I've seen her in, and that didn't distract from the story either (though it does fuel a nice fantasy or two...) (Love that girl...)

Where I enjoy the Korean dramas for their over-the-top emotional rollercoaster rides, I find that many of the Japanese dramas seem to handle adult situations in a more believable manner that I can relate to. Their characters are more flawed, and therefore more believable in many cases. Pride, Say You Love Me, Younger Men, and my all-time fave Beautiful Life all had the lead characters hopping into bed together (and in a few cases, with more than one...). Hell, even Orange Days had the happy couple in bed together, and I'd assume that she was with her fiance a few times as well, though it wasn't really mentioned.

Sometimes sex scenes are central to the story, and sometimes they add depth and dimension to characters. Rarely have I seen a gratuitous sex scene in an Asian drama, though my horndog little butt would probably see it more as a bonus than a distraction...

i think Spanish dramas or those "tele-novelas" display some sexually content.

but sometimes they only use it for "putting thoughts and words into action." Laugh:

I voted yes... but I'm not looking for hard core porn here at D-Addicts.

I guess it's all a matter of how you define your terms.

I'm here for the Dramas... but for the occasional change, I really enjoy stuff like 2nd House, or Glory Days.
