after thinking of a cheap way to build a standalone divx/mp4/mkv/ogm player, i remembered yrs ago, my friend young, mod'd his xbox to be his all around divx/wmv player, he also daisy chained a few hard drives together so he didnt have to backup his avi files on to dvd. I havent seen him in a long time, considering that i moved away, so i dont know how to get a hold of him.
xbox should be fairly affordable n available, it also had 720p and 1080i functions, so thats a plus to all of my tvs. my only worry is, does the xbox have the hardware capability to run the newer codecs like x264? and would srt/sub/ass files be readible.
