Hihi,

I was just watching The Taiwan version of Hana-Kimi, and I had to chuckle in episode 10 when Rui Xi casually asks Quan if he has seen Tokyo Juliet. He says he hasn't. This of course is funny because that is the drama that Wu Chun (who plays Quan) was in prior to Hana-Kimi.

This led me to thinking about other amusing drama in-jokes and references. Haruka 17 parodies a bunch of korean dramas. In 'Shiawase ni Naritai!' Fukada Kyoko's character is trying to come up with a drama idea to pitch to some drama producers, and she outlines the plots of 'Gokusen' and 'Nurse no Oshigoto' but is rejected because no one would ever watch that sort of show...

If I remember correctly, It Started With a Kiss references Joe Cheng's previous drama, The Rose.

MatsuJun shows up in character as Shin from Gokusen in Sakurai Sho's drama 'Yoiko no Mikata'

I am also wondering if in Suppli episode 8, the whole 'Minami!' conversation is a reference to Long Vacation (so many connections there- older woman named Minami, younger guy, and Ryou is in both shows...)

What other drama in-jokes have you spotted? It's so fun when you realize you get the joke pinch (and also a sign that perhaps you watch too many dramas...)

-Emi

I am replying to my own topic because I just noticed another drama-in-drama reference ^_^ I am watching 'Please Come Back, Soon-Ae' and in this episode they parody the Lee Dong Gun 'You are in here' scene from 'Lovers in Paris' when he places her hand on his heart, complete with the 'Lovers in Paris' background music coming on! That was awesome! ^____^

Also, for another drama cross-reference, I guess you can count the end of My Girl, with the Sassy Girl Chung-Hyang cameo ^_^

Am I the only one who is amused by these things? ;_;

ISWAK also parodies the MV Joe was in ("The Leaf") and when they're at the hospital the old woman is watching The Rose.

IIRC in Hanakimi Rui Xi is watching a drama Ella was in when Nakatsu comes to talk to her in the lounge (it's not shown on screen but I recognize the theme music.)

18 Censored or Not is full of parodies, of both itself, other dramas, and other stories. There's one scene in it that goes:

"What did you think we were filming a teenage idol drama?"
"Even if we were, you don't need to sound so disgustingly mushy."

Ah.... episode 6 of KO One actually shows a clip from ISWAK as a joke. It's so funny because you can see Jiro in the background.

near the end of Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, there are some parodies of other dramas...if i remember correctly, there's one of Full House, MISA, and Winter Sonata.
