| I am a Hmong-American. I speak (only the white dialect of but can make out some of the green dialect of) Hmong and English. I can understand some Spanish (North American Spanish of course) but speak very minimal phrases like "hello/goodbye", "how are you", "don't hang up" and "please hold for a moment". Took 3 years of French but that was ages ago and never used it because never got to go to France, and no one I knew spoke French so only know the basics now. Know some phrases in Mandarin, Japanese and Korean from watching dramas, but wanting to learn them of course. I have learn that we do use similar words/phrases here and there, especially Mandarin since the Hmong did live (and some still do live there) in China. Need to learn Spanish. Also, would like to learn Thai/Laos because planning to visit there again and it would be nice to know how to communicate if I get lost before I reach family there who can speak for me.
