Hey everyone,
Me and a friend are thinking about making a fansubbing group for japanese dramas called SubsWay.. sort of a pun of subway... jeesh u think that's bad ask me about our other ideas Tongue

So anyway currently we're in need of timers and a japanese translator... I'll be doing a lot of the japanese subbing and my friend is going to do the editing.

Once we've got a our staff situation sorted out we'll all decide on a drama to sub, something easy maybe a special or something to start out with then gradually move up until the team is comfortable.

I already have a dedicated server for the website!
Oh and tadaa I posted a crap place holder on the wiki that will be updated later:
http://fansub.d-addicts.com/SubsWay

if u dont want to post on this forum for w/e reason just email me at

Ok... So no replies. The problem seems kinda obvious.. no projects = no interest for staff. So we'll announce it straight out here.

We wanna do Hanazakari no Kimitachi e.
The reason being, this series is awesome (even though it's like what half way done? *nods*), TOTALLY addicted and can't wait for subs. So all aboard! We believe we can release quality, speed-subs that are dependable and have scheduled release dates.

OK Now to get it perfectly straight, We love Kai2000x for releasing those subs and we encourage him to continue to release his subs <3 Great job ^^;;

This is just sort of a test bed for the newly developing team, a series to get our feet wet in (and what a series! ^-^).

SO, all positions open, translators (Japanese), timers, QC, etc
The faster the positions fill the faster we can start on the series!

FIGHTINGU! Tongue

er, isn't someone already subbing Hana Kimi? i have no idea of the quality of it since i don't particularly like Hana Kimi, but i believe the subs are coming out quickly. i dunno that many people would want to basically go back and redo what has already been done unless its been done really badly.

i'm not telling you not to do it tho ^_^ you are perfectly free to make subs for it if you wish tho...good luck with that

Soft subs
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_50354.htm

Hard subs
http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/torrents.php?search=hana+kimi+sars

My opinion: starting off a fansub group with a drama that's already being done is NOT a good idea on several levels.

Yeah.... if you want to spark fansubbers interest try picking a drama that isn't already half completed by someones else. Who want to volunteer for something that's already been done?..... several times, actually.

People might actually join your team if you picked a fresh drama. If there aren't any new dramas that interest you there are always some older ones I know a lot of people would flip out if someone said they would sub them.

that's just a idea but why dont you start by subbing "Hadashi no Gen".
It's recent and no one is subbing it (at least i think so)

Please do not use this topic to persuade or suggest this group (or any group) to sub a drama of your choice. This goes against D-Addicts policy regarding people asking for subtitles. We won't allow topics like this to be used as a means of working around this policy.

i'm very sorry if my post seem that way
because i was not asking fot them to do it for my sake
I just wanted to help them find a first suitable project and since it's a special, it's shorter than a season so they can see if their teams works.

I think that without a project they will have problems getting people interrested.

so again i'm sorry but my post was not a request

Hm. well the reason we're thinking of starting off with a pre-existing one is so that we dont have the responsibility. If the group flops and we suck completely, no one will care much, it's been done already.
I personally would hate if i started a new series that people are really looking forward to watching and then having it stop on the 2nd or 3rd ep because of our general inexperience

This isn't to improve on existing subs, or even produce faster than the other great teams doing this series, it's just a series to get our feet wet in and keep the interest of the group. (no one wants to sub a boring drama)

i just don't think you will get too many people who want to redo a series thats already being done even as practice.

if you are that worried about not having enough experience, you could always join an already existing group to learn. fansub groups are generally quite happy to help train new people. and if you like the way that group, then you can stick with them and maybe ask to be a mod for a series that you want to see subbed. or if you want to strike out on your own, you will have contacts with people and more knowledge.

if you already have experience, thats great! if you are worried about the inexperience of the people you want to join your fansub group, ask them what their experience is. if you are willing to take completely new people, offer to train them ^_^ if you want to just make sure you can keep the group sustained, then go with megane's general idea about subbing some specials or short tv series.
