| You obviously have some real prudish issues about nudity. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. And sorry, nude photographs are not pornography! Especially the very mild kind they are likely to print in fan magazines.

I am going to be completely honest to the question "What do you think when you see your idol naked in magazines?" Several thoughts come across my mind.
Firstly, "Wow, I'd hit that." Secondly, "I wonder if he really is tiny." Thirdly, "I took photography, I wonder if I could get a career that involves naked japanese idols...."
Fanservice sells. If there were a choice of magazines, one with a naked Yamapi insert, and one without, I do wonder what the majority of us would buy......_________________

Hmm well...it really depends...
If it's a situation where the celebrity is ALWAYS showing up nude, then I'd have a negative reaction to that person, something like, "oh, they're just banking on sex appeal, probably have zero talent" and while I might enjoy some of the photos I wouldn't have a very high opinion of that person.
If the photos are just tasteless or trashy looking, then I wouldn't enjoy 'em AND my opinion of that person would go down.
However, if they're occasional and nicely done, I have no problems with it at all. 
My favorite J-pop group is Arashi, also Johnny's idols, and while they've done some nude/nearly nude photos, in the majority of their photos they're clothed.
Edit - meant to say but forgot, that I haven't seen any of the photos referred to in the original message & don't even know who Edison Chen is, nevermind what his photo scandal was about.

There have been cases where I thought a little less of a woman who did nudity but I'm always happy to see male nudity. I guess that makes me a hypocrite.
To Caramelchampagne, I can see where you are coming from. If you fell for someone because of their innocent image then seeing them doing something overtly sexual could be a real turn off.

Um.... WTF?
Edison Chen's situation is not even in the same freaking ballpark as Japanese johnny's boys posing in magazines half nude.
Other than the fact that China and Japan have different views about nudity and porn... well, that is the difference. One is just nudity the other was porn.
Johnny's boys are getting paid to pose semi-nude in published magazines.
Edison's scandal was because they were private pictures of his sexcapades with his past girlfriends that were stolen. It was actually porn with genitalia engaging in sexual activities being VERY visible. He didn't get paid for this and it wasn't a photo shoot. It was an invasion of privacy. While no one was shocked by the fact that Edison was a naughty boy when he was younger (that everyone knew), the issue was more about the fact that several very famous women who were well off and married with children since they stopped dating Edison YEARS ago were tarnished with the photos along with Edison.
So please, do not compare things like Yamapi's LV shoot to Edison's homemade porn. It's not the same and it's insulting to all parties to say they are.
And for the record. Edison only had to drop his career in China for the unforeseeable future. He is still working in North America though.

| @ tass your are sick lol Yamapi is tiny rotfl...........It not that I THOUGHT he was big but tiny? lollollol you killing me! Oh yeah I don't see nothing wrong with photo or even bed scenes. I personal perfer when the actor shows his butt, especially if it's as nice as Kim Rae Won in (Plum Blossom) or Kwon Kye Sang in (Moonlight in Seoul). They may not know how to kiss, but they do nice bed scenes in (MOVIES) of course. God forbid if they do an proper kiss in these damm drama I'm hooked on!

After reading this topic, it's pretty obvious someone is not getting any.
Second, what kind of lousy porn have you been watching to compare it to the photos of An.An magazine?
And Third: you shouldn't compare a sex scandal (Edison Chen's) to the pictures of that prestigious magazine. Only the ones who are at the peak of their careers have gotten the honor to pose nude for An.An The ones who have the best pictures of all time are Kimura Takuya and Akanishi Jin. They're the only ones who made the photoshoot look natural and believable.
Everyone (Kamenashi's fans, I mean) was so sure he was the one from KAT-TUN who was going to pose naked for that photoshoot you hate so much, so it was really surprising to realize that the one who was actually asked to appear was Jin.
(Even though Kame has worked his ass off , he hasn't been invited by the producers to do so... maybe because he might not be interesting enough for them, even though he can be seen everywhere).
Artistic/ Nasty/ Trashy/ Something that's completely normal/ A way to appreciate the beauty of the naked body...
That's for everyone to judge... based on our own repressions and downright ignorance.

oh and if we imagine that some of these photos was for exmple of one of hollywood celeb. ppl in usa i think will consider it as scandel or they just will be happy about it
