Lol... it takes me about an hour to do 20 minutes, but I'm completely fluent in both languages and type over 100 wpm. I have my computer setup so that I only need to roll my mouse over a window to put it in focus (and don't have to click on it) so that I can switch between notepad and pause/playing the video quicker. Furthermore, that's assuming that all the phrases translate pretty much directly, there are no slang or convoluted grammar that doesn't translate completely...
Then there's timing... I  to the timers, because they have the patience of saints (which I do not have).
I encourage anybody who wants subs immediately to go take an episode of an American drama and sub it... as in, type down the dialog, time it, edit it (i.e. double check capitalization, spelling, and consistency) and encode it. Then, you'll see how many hours it takes...
So please, when you want subs, remember that what takes you only 1 hour to watch often took anywhere between 12-40 hours to subtitle. Besides which, things come up for the subbers... we have lives. As for subbers, it also takes us only 1 hour to watch... and however many extra hours to sub it, which we do NOT need to do to enjoy the drama.

You can check the dramawiki for information like that... but yes, just on
Sundays. The episodes are an hour and a half long.... but for us, without commercials, that makes them about an hour and twenty minuets.
