Jikou Keisatsu Season 2 (Kaette kita Jikou Keisatsu)
I'm back to sub the second season of Jikou Keisatsu (The Return of Jikou Keisatsu)! Hope you enjoy! I will be releasing soft subs. If anyone wants to alter them, use them for hard subs, or otherwise, please feel free! I would appreciate a message if you do intend to use them, though.
I'm looking forward to another season of crazy antics, wordplay, and idioms which have beaten to death. No doubt it will be difficult and many things will be changed, but I hope to preserve as much as possible without making it impossible to read. I'm always open to constructive criticism and suggestions. Please feel free to stroke my ego as much as possible as it usually gets the subtitles done faster, too.
I'd like to thank gryzze for always seeding many great series and tianj for providing me with the timing for last season and all of the timing for this season.
HaroRangers is releasing hard subs for this series based on these translations, although the translations may be editted at their discretion. So if you like hard subs better, check 'em out!
Technical notes:
This season a few minor points were changed from Season 1. The city is now spelled Sohbu (instead of Soobu, Soubu, or So-bu) since that is how it is written in the background of episode 1 (they even had some sort of slogan using each of the letters).
Even though it may seem unnatural for some, I stuck with using people's names verbatim (i.e., with family name first and personal name last, keeping suffixes whenever possible). I did it this way simply for a lack of confusion on my part.
I have kept more Japanese words since I feel that most watching this series know what they mean. (i.e., I kept "Janken" instead of putting something like "rock, paper, scissors" because I need to shorten the subtitles whenever possible)
All references to money have been made in terms of US dollars using the simple conversion factor of 100 yen = 1 US dollar.
Square brackets [] are used to explain things which are written on screen.
Curved brackets () are used to further explain the meaning of certain words or situations.
Italics are used to distinguish between what is being said in the background versus what is being said in the foreground. However, sometimes both occur at the same time, and I used hyphens, - -, to envelope the background phase since partial italics aren't compatible with every subtitle program.
EPISODE 5 NOTES:
Some words to make sure you know beforehand so that it makes more sense (sorry for the brevity; please feel free to look up more descriptive/accurate summaries online):
(Restroom/Toire no) Hanako-san: This is a well-known ghost in Japan said to appear in women's restrooms. They say she's a Kappa (see below) with a red skirt.
Kappa: Mythological being, perhaps somewhat similar to a troll in the Western world. A kappa wears a plate on its head and always has a distinctive hairdo.
Azarashi: Translated directly, it means seal or sea lion. This shows up in Ep. 2 with the "sea lion skin pouch". Here it is used as something the ghoul says, kind of like "Boo!" or "Whoao~". Usually a ghost in Japan says "Urameshiya~" ADDENDUM: I just found out there was a horror drama about 10 years back called "Eko Eko Azaraku". No doubt this is playing off that. I typed it as "Echo" instead of "Eko" since I didn't know about it at the time. Oops
Goukon: This is a group date with an equal amount of guys and girls (usually at least 3 guys and 3 girls) going out together. Very common in Japan.

Thank you very much.
At last, the subtitle is out after trying very hard to watch all of those RAWs version.
Very happy to know that I will understand what and how Kiriyama solve jikou case.
Looking forward to other episodes.
