FREEZE from YA Entertainment
Wiki:http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Freeze

Region Code: 1
Picture Format: NTSC
Release Date: March 6, 2007
Language: Korean
Subtitles: English
Publisher: YA Entertainment
Number of Episodes: 5
Number of Discs: 3
UPC#: 880604000459

This is a 3 DVD box set with 2 episodes per disc. The last disc is just 1 episode w/Extras. I bought it from Yesasia for $40.

Subtitles = They are complete, grammatically correct with no noticable major errors or ommissions. There were maybe 3 minor errors in sentences but you could watch the whole thing and not find them. They are easy to miss. Signs are translated haphazardly (more often then not). I don't know what their standard was but it was not consistant. I DO NOT SPEAK KOREAN SO I CAN NOT JUDGE ACCURACY.

Music Subtitles = No music is subtitled. This is the most significant flaw in this release. If it wasn't for this it would be perfect.

Video Display = The picture is 16:9. This should be a real treat for widescreen TV owners. If you don't have a wide screen no worries. There are no black bars it just cuts off the sides.

Video Quality = The picture quality was excellent.

Audio = Audio quality was excellent and consistant.

Extras = There are TONS of show specific Extras. More then I have ever seen on a YA Entertainment release. They include-Interviews with the 3 main stars (Really more of a featurette about the actor while working on the show). Interviews with the Director and Music Director. Goof Reel. Opening Song music video. Timeline of the making of Freeze which shows all the major events like press conference, first script reading, first outing and my fav the poster shoot (topless Lee Seo-Jin!)

Overall this is an Excellant quality release. It loses points for lack of music subtitles but aside from that it is practically perfect in every way. If all YA Entertainment releases were llike this with song subtitles I would be in heaven. I give this version an A-

Wow! I hope the anamorphic widescreen presentation on this set is a sign of good things to come!

Widescreen is nice but I was more excited about the extras. I am shelling out big bucks to YA for these shows. I have bought a lot and I want extras that aren't just advertisements for their other shows.

I really don't care for extras at all. I want sharp video, clean sound, and flawless subs... That's all! I don't even like menus... Especially animated menus.

But to me that's the minimum. If it doesn't have at least those things then it's unwatchable. On the shows that aren't widescreen this the video is still sharp.

Well, exactly. I am always pleasantly surprised to find that a dvd isn't unwatchable ;^)
