So I got home from work today and found my internet not working, went ahead and called Comcast support. After 4 hours of trying to get through randomly throughout the night I finally got someone. I explained the situation, he looked at my account and went, "Hmph...you're going to have to call this number". Hung up and called the number and am greeted with a recording saying, "You've reached the Comcast internet legal response team, internet law enforcement, etc., etc."
Well it turns out I managed to be among their top 1% of internet users exceeding bandwidth usage in my region and they suspended my account so I would call them. I was curious how much I used in December and wasn't really suprised. 422 gigs that month, roughly 75% of it was from seeding alone. Granted that is excessive, I checked their ToS and didn't find a stated number for monthly bandwidth usage. Called tech support again, guy couldn't answer me so he got his supervisor and the supervisor said there isn't a set bandwidth cap but they monitor customers that exceed a reasonable amount. Ah well, now I'm using a bandwidth monitor to keep track.

| I usually limit it to 180-200/kbps when I'm online, when the computer idles I just let it go and seen it reach 1MB/sec but that's the combined speed of the 4 or 5 torrents I'm seeding at a time. My max upload speed is supposed to be around 2MB/sec but I've never seen it get anywhere close to that.

Why should anyone need to "monitor" their bandwidth???? Can you SERIOUSLY watch everything you're downloading? I'm the master of seeding, and I don't even come close to the numbers you guys are revealing. For starters, DO NOT set your seeding level to unlimited.

I never do~........wells, not anymore.
In the past, I have and would wake up to a very faulty internet connection and extremely slow loading speeds. At the time, Time Warner would cap my internet and I wouldn't know why until my brother told me I was uploading/seeding too much, way more than the average user in my neighborhood. _________________ watching: 1 Mom & 3 Dads, Around 40, Gokusen 3, Fated To Love You, Hokaben, Last Friends, Osen, Puzzle, ROOKIES, They Kiss Again, Zettai Kareshi

What upload speed do you suggest I use? 500 kb/s?

When I upload, I originally set it at unlimited. After five completions, I throttle down to 300 kb/s. Based on the BT protocol, this will force the five completed people to start uploading.
I guess it all depends on how fast you want your downloads to end. For me, downloading a 350MB file can take one week and I wouldn't mind, seeing I purchased a server off-site to handle all my P2P needs. The idea is that most people want to upload as much as they can, in order to speed up their downloads. What this causes is the hundreds of gigabytes of bandwidth being used up. I'm sure that many of you love seeding because it is for the common good of the swarm as well as the tracker overall. But there is also such a thing as too much giving. Upload to meet the minimum quota, and then bail.

That's what I need to start doing from now on. Usually I stay on a torrent until the number of seeders are equal to or more than the leechers or reach 1:1 ratio. Some torrents it never happens so I end up increasing the speed so the few left can finish.
