KiraKira Kenshui [Eng Subs] (Complete)

These English subs of KiraKira Kenshui, which can be translated as "Sparkling Medical Intern", has been brought to you by momoflower and ameigu.

Translator's Notes:

We went ahead and left the Japanese endings to names, like san, chan, sensei (doctor, in this case), senpai, Jii-chan (refers to an elderly man; uncle or grandpa), etc.

Episode 1:

clean up relationships between women and doctors: Kinoshita-sensei tells this to Yamazaki. She says that because of the way men flirt with girls. It was weird to translate.
small face: Kurahashi-sensei thinks Usako has a small face, so he makes fun of it.
Take the root: We couldn't quite figure out what root is.
troche: kind of medical candy
...while wandering around the forest.: That whole line was difficult. But that was the Japanese, according to ameigu.
Couldn't figure out the correct medical terminology for the two scissors used near the end. ^^;

Episode 2:

hospice - facility for terminally ill
neurological gastritis - inflammation, irritation, or erosion of the lining of the stomach. can occur sudeenly or gradually.
lip service - saying words just to make the other person feel better.
"I don't need a son with that kind of face." - Meaning that Yamazaki looks half-European.
cooper - surgical scissors
Escamiyo - No idea.
tying clippers - Couldn't find the correct medical term for it at the moment
placenta previa - when the placenta is blocking the cervix.

Episode 3:

kaiser: We figure this is meant to be the C-section operation
Itabashi: one of the 23 wards of Tokyo.
ataxia: According to wikipedia, ataxia is the unsteady and clumsy motion of the limbs or torso due to a failure of the gross coordination of muscle movements.

Episode 4:

"Make the tea stalk erect!": It is said that if it erects, something good will happen.
electro-cardiogram: it measures the electrical activity of the heart.

Episode 5:

Otsukimi pyon: Otsukimi is watching the moon, pyon is onomatopea describing how a rabbit jumps. The other words seem to be nonsense words.
"Give me chocolate": In World War 2, Japanese people asked American armies for chocolates by saying "Give me chocolate" because it was so rare in Japan.)
Engel's coefficient: amount of income budgeted towards food.

Episode 6:

Ambu pump: pump used to prevent sudden cardiac arrest.

Episode 7:

Zovirax: prescription used to treat genital herpes.

Episode 8:

don't want to be the target of solicity while eating wild duck.: Wild duck usually represents the target of hunter.
capsaicin: used in spicy foods.
polyphenol: antioxidant that reduces risk for cancer and cardiovascular disease.
collagen: helps against burns.
glucagon: essential in first aid for hypoglycemia (when brain cells don't have enough supply of glucose).

Episode 9:

Nothing in specific.

Episode 10:

catheter: a thin, flexible tube inserted into a bodily passage to allow fluids to pass through
paroxysm: spasm, convulsion.

Episode 11:

diuretic: medicine used to help with the urinary tract
Shotoku Taishi: influential regent of Japan and author of some of the greatest contributions to Japanese historiography, constitutional government, and ethics. (according to Encyclopedia Britannica online)

I'm really sorry, but I don't know how soon we can get the next episode's subs out. Depending on when I can use ameigu's computer and work on it together, because as of this morning, my computer's fan died (or something to that effect); so now I'm out of a computer for the next two weeks. Just a warning. ^_^;;;
