Is it common for Japanese or Japanese celebrities to have plastic surgery? After watching many J-dramas...it doesn't look like many does surgery...am I wrong? I hear that it's very common in Korean entertainment.

I don't think it's as common as Korean celebs.
75% of all Koreans were born with single eyelids yet the most majority of the Korean celebs have double eyelids.

Yeah, it's quite common.
Yada Akiko, Nakayama Miho for the less obvious... amongst others...

There's a j-drama called "Seikin Bijin" or "Artificial Beauty".
The drama seems to suggest that plastic surgery goes completely
against Japanese aesthetics and beauty. Many of the characters in
the shows are ikebana(flower arrangements) experts. So I get the
feeling that these ideas also exist in ikebana(especially in the scene
where they exhibited fake flowers and the stigma that it caused).
It also seemed to suggest that many relationships are ended after
it's revealed that one of the partners has undergone plastic surgery. People who do plastic surgery are fake and the Japanese concept of beauty is natural and real.
I don't know if anyone of this is really true.
But that's the impression that I got.
For a country with so many beautiful women, plastic surgery almost
seems non-existent. Health food and cosmetics are all Japanese women
seem to need.

You'll be shocked by how many J-idols have had plastic surgery. Just click on the following link and scroll through the pages:

It will completely change how you look at celebrities.

| I believe that none of us will do more than watch them on a screen, so who cares? If they choose to do so, then they choose to do so. _________________ I am not obsessed. I am just very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very focussed...

The proportions do seem off in a couple pictures. Not that it matters since most of the cosmetic changes seem to be in the eyelids or nose shape (plus I don't think it's possible for surgery to narrow a person's jawline).
In any case, I can understand why so many resort to plastic surgery. The entertainment industry is a competitive/selective one. They're only doing what is necessary to stay ahead. I won't judge them for it.
