Well according to the 1983 version of the movie, if you haven't seen it yet, apparently she fell somewhere and was trapped for 16 years.....sorry if i spoiled it but she didn't runaway. Not only that she thought YG was dead because his poison was never cured. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

she wrote to him to wait for 16 years hoping that he will forget about her.. and since she said that he should listen to what his wife says she hopes that he will take the antidote...and hopefully after 16 years he will forget about her and move on

How could you forget that you had a relationship with such a good looking girl.

buying the dvd? id rather wait for the hardsubs to come out... by the time the dvd gets to you, most of the episodes will probably be hardsub'd already.. .just 7 more to go =D
and yea, it should be better than zokes...
Quote:
The quality of the DVDs on this set is EXCELLENT! However, the english subtitles aren't. It's like someone put the translations through BABELFISH or something. These are literal translations and have not been refined for non-native speakers/writers of Chinese. For example, when XLN is talking about the Ancient Tomb Sect, the English subtitles say "GUMU PIE" instead of "Ancient Tomb Sect."
What's worse is that you cannot turn off the Chinese subtitles; in other words, they are hard subs. However, the good thing about their location is that they do not interefere with the film as they are positioned in the letterbox. The English subs appear on the picture above the Chinese subs.
Also, the editing is bad. For example...SPOILERS...if you don't want to know...don't read ahead...
XLN = xiao long nu
GWM = golden wheel monk (Jin Lun)
QZS = quan zhen sect
YG = yang guo
When XLN kills a certain character, she has to fight GWM and the QZS priests. The editors have hacked off the part where XLN and them fight. They jump to the scene where XLN is falling and YG catches her; she is suddenly injured. Viewers unfamiliar with the story will be CONFUSED.
Again, I stress bad editing. The ending is very rushed as well. It will leave you saying, "WHAT? THAT'S IT?"
The DVD-BOX isn't very sturdy. It's taped/glued together. The DVD holders can peel off pretty easily. Not very good packaging for something I paid 70 USD for.
However, as advertised, this is a very "fashionable" series.
If you have the cash, go for it. If not, I think you'll find a better experience with the older versions although the effects are outdated compared to ROCH 2006.

You're right. It's hard to forget a relationship like that, but not for the reason Xiao Long Nu is good looking. It's (nearly) impossible to cast off all memories of someone who has had such a profound influence on your life - the rearing, teaching, and of course the the love. Can you or I forget our favorite teacher? our best friend? If our Significant Other happens to be all that, then how easily would it be for us to forget?
Mind us, Yang Guo never considered Xiao Long Nu as his lover until she leaves him under the tree that evening she was soiled by Zhi Bing (I forget if it was Zhi Jing or Zhi Bing; it was one of the 2 daoist priests). Xiao Long Nu in Yang Guo's eyes transforms into a more intimate person with time - first a Shi Fu, then a Martial arts partner, and then 恋爱 ("love", I like the Chinese word for it) - giving that person a cemented and decorated place in one's heart. It is the deepening relationship that moves through stages that makes Yang Guo's and Xiao Long Nu's relationship so special and impossible to forget. Compared to circumstances that an average guy experiences, you and I are probably not going to remember the cute girl you or I dated for four weeks 10 years later (unless that was the only girl I dated).
Sorry I got all sappy there. But if one sits back and reflects on how strong the bond is between Yang Guo and Xiao Long Nu, we can appreciate how difficult it is and what it means to have meaningful relationship is. By watching this, perhaps we can respect what our parents share with one another.
*****Hey did anybody notice the music in the one scene in Episode 15 sounded exactly like Ayumi Hamasaki's song, "Dearest"?****
I still have a while before i can catch up to ep 34.
