Control of their products. That's really all there is to it. The PVs are basically used to give value to the shows that air them, such as MUSIC STATION. If you gave away the PVs, then who would watch MUSIC STATION? There's also a lot of advertising value coming out of these music TV shows. What about that source of revenue? If people turn away from watching PVs on TV, then there's really no purpose for hosting music TV shows seeing there would be no advertising revenue to keep them running.
Before we go about speculating the social/political reasons, think about it purely in terms of economics. Johnny's Jimusho - even though they're powerful and mighty, they must still rely on the TV networks to show off their products. They can't be Internet-only and give-away their PVs. Advertisting revenue on the Internet still hasn't reached the yen figures they generate off traditional TV methods.

| What i notice is that the majority of the videos are left on, yet some are deleted. It's like this concert, many are left, while some of the performances are deleted...haha. I dunno...

| O-o; why does it seem surprising that a company would take of what is being broadcast illegally with out there permission off the internet. O_O; it will only be a matter a time before American companies and stuff from other countries get pulled as well.

Welcome to the concept of marketing and show BUSINESS. Yes, it's an actual business based on markets, profit, and so on (this goes for pretty much every country).
And if PVs, which are copyright protected, are deleted from youtube, don't really be surprised. It's a copyright issue and I have my doubts that the people, who upload those vids to youtube, have the actual right to do so.
If you are to make a video, sell it on DVD, or make a PV for it in order to promote it, which is exclusively on the publisher's website and on TV and someone goes ahead, and uploads it on youtube without your or the publisher's consent... What do you think would happen? Of course it'd be deleted from youtube.
