I agree 95 was real good and i admit it seems like they had way more better chemistry(watched it in Vietnamese, there voices were good) and i agree carmen lee was better as a XLN but as for YG louis koo was more matureish throughout the whole movie and hes a pretty good actor but i disagree with YG's looks this one hes sooooooo much cooler! and XLN's look shes really cute but the thing that i dunt like as much is she looks to young >.< anyways finished DL!

Actually, LYF is the only XLN that looks the part. XLN suppose to look 16-17 throughout the series.

I'll say this again. If LYF was the first XLN that came out...Carmen/Idy/Fann/other XLN would not be cast. They would look too old for the part.

I just use higher bitrate.
ep 1-11, 12-21, 22-31, 32-41 should fit on 4 dvds.
Since the last 3 dvds will only have 10eps, I bumped up the bitrate.

Yes.

I dare to say that Idy was very good in acting/portraying the XLN character. She is supposed to be icy, not showing any of her emotions or love to YG. That makes XLN the most difficult character to play in my view. I haven't seen this one yet, but compare to the '98 version (do know who plays XLN) ... the '83 was much better. Haven't seen '95 either.

IMO the '83 version was low-budget one which most of the scenes are presumably taken in the studio (the fight AYF against HCK), but the casting was very good.

If you want to follow the 1st edition of the book, then XLN would be icy with no cold/robot heart/one dimensional character...Jin Yong didnt want one of his favorite female character to be one dimensional...so that's the reason why he had to change the characteristics of XLN. This XLN followed the 3rd Edition where she's much more warmer and full of emotions...i see more life in this XLN and I think it's better. I didnt like Carmen or Idy's XLN, they look lifeless and stiff. Idy was good in her acting skill but not sure about Carmen.

I totally agree with you, crazy. I read the first ed. of the novel a couple of years ago, and I think XLN was not "real". I understand that she spends most of her early life in the Tomb, but that only means she has less experience of the outside world, not that she is not as emotional as anybody else. In fact, ppl who are less experienced of the outside world are even more emotional than others who are influnenced by the wickedness of real life. XLN can be emotionless towards EVERYBODY ELSE but YG. They spends something like 3-5 years in the Tomb together, and they go through life-threatening experience together. That is what the director shows in the movies: XLN at first think of YG as a responsibility she has to take, but later likes him and loves him. XLN doesn't care about anybody else, as she decided to *spoiler* fight against the owner of the Love Valley who has been very nice to her earlier in order to go away with YG. I love LYF as XLN because she seems to be more "real" in this sense, not because she is prettier or because she gives me some money to be her fan Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue

I haven't watched anyone of these eps. (2006). I have seen the old (83/84) version and that's one of my favorite show. I was wondering if this remake is an improve to the old or is it just the same story with different characters. The reason I ask is because I have seen lots of remake of different shows but they were for the most part was a disappointment cause I knew what would happen. I just saw Duke of mount deer 2000 and was surprise. It was very enjoyable to watch. I felt like they changed the story to make it better which I think is a good thing. I didn't like the fact that 2 of the wives died but what can you do right. So could you tell me what you think of this show compared to the old. Thanks.

I have only watched version 1995. That one was my favorite. Now i'm watching this version.
Of course characters are changed and filmgraphic is improved much. About the story, it flows as version 1995. But at some points it is different. Finally I can say that this one is touching and you will enjoy. thanks.

Don't mind my bad English

i say the best one is the 1995, it doesnt have alot of computer animated and the fighting style is just nice . Well i like both as XLN , LYF and Carmen r both good . I dont know maybe im used to TVB fighting style . BUt after all that just my opinion no hard feeling guy

After you finish with this series...go back to old version and tell me if you feel the same way. For me, I felt the same as you but after going back...i didnt like it at all. Everything just look awkward and I find it to be boring.
