(This is purely from my memory....it may not all be accurate, but the general story should be right)
Bei Ruo Yi calls the announcer, Mr. Dai Han Jian (À¹º~°í), as Mr. Da Han Jian (¤jº~¦l) at the hair styling competition. This references way back in Chinese history, where ¤jº~¦l Da Han Jian refers to the Han traitor, §d¤T®Û Wu San Gui. The Hans ruled during the Ming dynasty. Wu San Gui, a Han, was a General that held authoritative power over fifty-thousand army troops (enough to threaten the king). It was Wu San Gui that led the Qing army into the city and caused the fall of the Ming dynasty (which is the start of the Qing dynasty). Thus, Wu San Gui betrayed his own people and therefore, has been called the "¤jº~¦l Da Han Jian" (Han traitor) ever since. Da Han Jian (¤jº~¦l) now generally refers to a person that is a traitor of his/her own people. As you can see, this is a perfect reference used on Mr. DAI Han Jian. Laugh

This term refers to when a (wealthy) family brings a young girl into the family and raise her to become their daughter in-law. Of course, this kind of thing doesn't really happen anymore. Hence, Xiang Xiang auntie comments, "What era are we in?!" Blink

. Chou Mei used this term on herself as she realizes that she is destined to marry Zhe Ming (to repay Xiang Xiang auntie for raising her).

This phrase originates in Buddhism. In it's literal translation, it means, "Ten thousand ways emerges from the heart". It means that thousands of possibilities exist inside your heart. Thus, when Old Bei changes "ªk" (method/possibilities) to "¾v" (hair), he is saying that you can come up with thousands (endless number) of different hairstyles in your heart.

(Idiom) Turtledoves don't know how to build a nest, so they steal the Magpies' nests. It's a way of expressing how someone forcefully takes over another person's home.
