I'm gonna move this over to J-ent....
LOL, I thought it was funny that you said "Mariah Carey treatment" b/c she is quite full of herself too.....thinking she should be considered hotter **** than Madonna. That baffles me O__o
Edit: P.S. - Don't req. that people finish subbing any drama Plus this show is still airing, correct? Yeesh. |
To be fair to CJW - the below is the reply to the accusation, and I also read somewhere that her management is taking action against the paper.
Mr Ueda Hiroki, the Producer of "Rondo" has stepped out to clarify the recent groundless article published in a Japanese magazine which reported on the uncooperativeness between Choi Ji-Woo, Takenouchi Yutaka and the staff of "Rondo"
Besides the tireless work of the translators to ensure that staff from both Japan and South Korea teams could communicate with each other, each side has also equipped themselves with a guide book on understand the basic language of the other party. The Japanese staff would take with them a book on "Understanding Korean", while the Korean staff "Understanding Japanese"
Both Choi Ji-Woo and Takenouchi Yutaka have utmost trust in each other, and this has made the filming environment very pleasant and smooth sailing. Mr Takenouchi would sometimes consult Choi Ji-Woo on some things, and everyone is working hard.
Mr Ueda revealed that initially, it may have been tough trying to work out the language difference but everyone has tried their best to overcome the barrier based on trust of character, and professionalism. The producer was said to have voiced his displeasure over the allegations that Choi Ji-Woo was a difficult person.
During their meal times, there was no preferential treatment for any staff, they would eat whatever was served. Even the kimchi would be shared with everyone in the team.
He shared the example of Choi Ji-Woo's professionalism in filming the final scene in Episode 03. Ji-Woo requested for re-takes with Mr Takenouchi even under the coldest weather conditions. The staff were concerned but impressed with her persistence and professionalism. This was also not the first time where Ji-Woo would request for retakes to perfect the scenes, and so the accusations were absolutely groundless.
Several TBS senior management officials have personally visited the set, and are frustrated that these reports have to surface. The producer has asked the magazine to present evidence of their communication with "TBS staff", and requested for them to reveal the names of the supposed "TBS staff" whom they spoke with. And if they can't prove it, then it means all the reports have been fabricated.
Mr Ueda has opened his invitation to these repporters to visit the set
He ended his clarification note by asking these reporters if they are embarrassed by their lack of ethics.
AND ALSO HER REPLY
Choi Ji-Woo refutes claims published in Japanese magazine
My Daily (19 February 2006)
"I try my best as an actor representing South Korea. Due to that responsibility, I made sure to arrive at the production set earlier than my counterparts to prepare for filming during the four months of filming "Rondo". The acting and production teams were aware of this."
On 19 February, Choi Ji-Woo accepted an interview with Korea's "My Daily" news to refute the baseless claims made by a Japanese magazine, The Weekly Post. In the article were accusations that Choi Ji-Woo made things difficult for the production team of "Rondo". When an article of such nature was published earlier, the PD of "Rondo" Mr Ueda Hiroki posted a notice on the drama's website refuting those claims. After seeing even the Korean media publishing such malicious reports, Choi Ji-Woo had no choice but to stand up and set the record straight.
Choi Ji-Woo clarified that she has never met the reporter who wrote the article for the magazine. Perhaps the reporter had seen Mr Takenouchi Yutaka and her filming their scenes, but why are they publishing these reports? There was a reporter from The Weekly Post who contacted her for an interview but the interview never materialized. What was unacceptable was the article made its way into Korean media reports without verifying any of the details with her.
Regarding the claims that she was constantly late for filming, and made unreasonable requests with TBS, Choi Ji-Woo says that during her 10-years in the industry, she treats each assignment, be it in Korea or international, seriously. And this being her first time involved in a Japanese production, she was nervous and made it a point to arrive on the set early to prepare and rehearse with her Japanese counterparts, and never once, had she made or forced unreasonable requests on the team. Mr Ueda and Mr Takenouchi understood the situation, as did the production team.
Fortunately, the ratings for Rondo have stayed consistently in the Top 10, and the show has received good reviews from fans and supporters.
"I'm thankful for the feedback that people had given, and this relieved me of some nerves in taking such a responsibility as a South Korean actor. To think a Japanese TV company is investing in such a production shows the importance to promote the Korean Wave more, and I need to do my best."
Admitting that there have been recent reports critisizing the Korean Wave, Choi Ji-Woo said "I was able to venture into Japan successfully because of a Korean drama, so this collaboration made it all the more meaningful to promote Korea."
With some of these anti-Korean Wave reports surfacing in Japan, together with those in support of the influx of Korean dramas into Japan, Choi Ji-Woo hopes that the Korean media check the facts before reporting.
Recently, another wave of "Choi Ji-Woo" phenomenon stirred in Japan when the actress attended a press conference announcing her new movie "Yeonliji" with Jo Han-Sun. The movie will be screened on April 15, shortly after the production of "Rondo" ends. Japanese fans are eagerly awaiting the movie.
