Okay, epi 5 was "fast" cos there was no Nagase in Tesuwan Dash last Sun, which means i have more "free time" lol! Ep 6 might be delayed a little, expect it after 3rd March. Why? Cos TOKIO will be doing a special bangumi for TBS's 50th anniversary and will be on TV for almost 7hrs in all on the 25th. More Nagase = less time for other things Big Smile

Please be advised to READ my epi translation notes here everytime you start/finish an epi. Though my Japanese is a little better than i had initially expected, my English is much worse than i had thought. There are times where i would be stuck finding an english equivalent to a certain word which i would note it down in the notes.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! NO DISCUSSION = NO SUBS!!!! Epi 6 will be CRITICAL to my decision as to whether to continue subbing this series. Frankly in all yrs as a TOKIO fan, i've never finished viewing an entire Mabo drama series barring Manhattan Love Story. And yes, he's my least fav amongst the 5. I wanted you folks to discuss the drama episodes content ACTIVELY in the MAIN discussion thread here for this very reason. If the discussion there is engaging enough then i'll sorta be "forced" to complete it out of moral responsibility. Will evaluate the situation once Epi 6 subs is completed. At anytime after Epi 6, when i announce dropping of project, you folks have my apologies though you all have to share part of the responsibility too.

Epi 5 Translation Notes
A) 43 - 00:03:14,150 --> 00:03:19,850 and 426- 00:30:09,490 --> 00:30:13,650
I translated 生きた証 as legacy. It literally means evidence of existence but just found it kinna weird to put it in the sentence. This might sound really stupid the only dictionary i have with me at the moment is a medical one so can't check if legacy is the correct word to use.

B) 48 - 00:03:38,040 --> 00:03:40,440
That's cos i've been managing the business studiously within the suspension period.
For those who were wondering where the suspension came from, it's from epi 4. I translated 326 - 00:25:43,000 --> 00:25:45,840 of epi 4 into period of self-reflection when suspension is a better translation. It's totally my fault, was gossiping with my frd then abt a certain member of an idol grp being made to do "self-reflection" for underage drinking that the term kinna got stuck in my mind for the week. Pls change ur epi 4.

C) 136 00:08:54,540 --> 00:08:57,480
Thks to chiisana_tantei san, for pointing out that it is indeed Richard Hennessy. Hence pls note in epi 3, what i had put as XXX is Richard Hennessy.

D) 429
00:30:20,110 --> 00:30:25,080
With regards to this, i hope that child (Ryosuke) can understand
Remi used the word あの子 which literally means that child. Think this usage tells a lot abt how she sees Ryosuke. Just wanted to emphasize it here since this "weird" translation was done on purpose.

General information
1) I'm not too sure if i'll be able to stick to releasing an episode by the end of each OA week. I might be fairly distracted come Feb when TOKIO starts promoting "Mr Travelling Man" single and when TOKIO 2006 live tour starts.

2) Please do not expect perfection. There will be grammatical, spelling or minor translation errors. The beauty of softsubs is that there's always room for admendment later on. Please feel free to make amendments to my subs, repost their edited here. There is no need to PM me. The more professional subgrps would probably turn their noses up on such lax QCing but i'm not willing to spend more than 3hrs working on each episode.

3) While i do have every intention to complete the subbing of the entire series eventually, should i decide to abandon this project midway, an update will be posted here. My motivation to continue with the project is highly correlated to how active the discussion for the drama here is http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27772 . Folks who can't understand this drama without subs are strongly advised to drop a few comments about the drama as you finish an episode.

4) Going forward, translation notes of latest epi will be updated on this thread. The previous epi notes will be merged together with the post of the sub file (see edited post of epi 2 for ref)

Notes for epi 1 : A) Line 46 - 00:03:38,980 --> 00:03:42,510
All the Hyena refs here, i'm uncertain if she was referring to Hyena (english) or Fly (she could have said Hae (japanese0). Consulted with a couple of friends, unfortunately the opinions were somewhat split. Any insights would be appreciated. This part is fairly important since i suspect she is going to call him as a Hyena/ Hae host throughout the entire series. ------- DECIDED TO STICK TO HYENA

Thank you very much for the subs. It's a quite interesting story line. It's adapted from a manga, right? I think that is noticable but still very nice, I am definetly interested in seeing more.
