Um, Maybe? I think it might have to do with what particular combo of options you have selected in your profile settings.. or maybe "when" you set your preferences (b/c I set mine waay before Ruroshin added all the fancy options ^_^;;; )?
Anyhow, before Ruroshin wiped them off the server, I know that ppl could see my avatar while I was in stealth mode, but I also remember that jholic was the same as you... He said he could see all his details and avatars, but I couldn't see anything besides his name... 
Err, sorry for the off-topic junk... uh... uhh.....
Even though I'm Taiwanese, I can't contribute anything here.... ;_;
