Koi ni Ochitara
~ boku no seikou no himitsu =~ If you fall in love ~ the secret of my success
synopsis:
Since his father passed away six years ago, Shimao Suzuki has taken over the family business, working diligently at their factory with his mother Aiko and a couple of employees. Though not wealthy, Shimao, Aiko, and Shimao's sister Mariko are satisfied with their life.
One day, Shimao draws a raffle at a local shopping mall and wins a trip for two to Hawaii. He takes his mother, and there he meets a beautiful girl, Kaori Shirakawa, and a young and brilliant entrepreneurial president of Frontier, an up-and-coming IT firm, Toru Takayanagi. Shimao immediately falls in love with Kaori, who has a friendly and warm personality.
Shimao and Aiko come home to find the factory in chaos. The accountant has embezzled the company's money, causing them to go bankrupt. Aiko develops a heart disease and is hospitalized. She needs a heart transplant, but the Suzukis can't afford the medical costs. Before Shimao can come up with a way to clear their debts, Aiko passes away. Shimao and Mariko can do nothing but cry. That's when Shimao remembers what Toru told him in Hawaii. "When you're in trouble, come to me." The following day, Shimao finds himself standing in front of the towering building where Frontier is based. What will be waiting for Shimao inside?

I downloaded this some days ago, but I haven't watched it yet cause I've had problems with the subtitles. After wasting numerous hours trying to figure out the problem myself, I'll ask you guys.
Here is a string from the srt of episode 1:
| Code: | | {\cFFFF33\fnArial Black\fs18\a5}<u>Koi Ni Ochitara Episode 1: Someone I have been searching for</u> |
I'd believe that the code in the curly braces defines the font which the given line uses - however - the code is displayed along with the line when I play an episode.
It's the same with all episodes and I've had the same result in vlc, mplayer and xine under Debian GNU/Linux. Any ideas?

I tried this on Windows Media Player and the font displays just fine. I think that the use of this coding is specific to Vobsub (but I could be wrong).
As for GNU/Linux, you probably have to edit the srt file and take out the sections that have the code in place. I don't know how much work that would require, but as long as you know how to use your favorite editor well, it's shouldn't take too much time._________________ D-Addicts is like a library: Most of the resources are there, you just have to search around!

I figured I'd regex the srt's aswell, but there's another problem:
I think some of the strings are comments which are supposed to appear on the top of the screen. Since my players apparently doesn't support the {}-tags, comments are displayed on top of the actual sub.
In order to get readable subtitles, I'd have to edit the srt's with my bare hands - actually read the subs -, which would spoil both the story and enjoyment, and take lots and lots of time.
Could this be yet another case where MS have made up their own "standards"?

The {\\\\} are DirectVobSub/SSA codes. It allows me to place subs on different locations on the screen, add colors, change fonts, adjust sizes etc.
You must use DirectVobSub or other SSA compatible players to view these subs correctly. Once installed, you can view the subs using your favorite player.
