aoi-anime says they're closed down. Is this series even going to be continued?

This series is based off of a book that was written awhile back. The book sold pretty well so it was made into a movie that opened at beginning of this summer. The movie did extremely well in theaters in Japan (hey, a theme song by Hirai Ken and having Shibasaki Kou star in it helped as well). Anyways, because the movie was co-produced by TBS (a tv station), they decided exercise some options to make the book/movie into a drama series. Nobody from the movie stars in the drama series, except for the fact that Shibasaki Kou sings the theme song for the drama series.

Anyways, the gist of the book/movie/drama is that a man, Taku (I might be wrong with the name here), re-examines/relives/revisits his first love that he had back in high school. The younger version of Taku is played by the actor who played the title character in "Fireboys ~Megumi no Daigo~" The clincher is that Taku's girlfriend dies from leukemia, but not before Taku helps her live her life to the fullest. Oh yeah, going to Australia is also involved.

From what I've heard from friends, the movie is definitely better than the drama series (of course, a bigger budget and better casting...). Then again, having a great movie rehashed into a drama series so soon may have turned them off.

Hope this helps.

My friend saw the movie and she really liked it but she hasn't watched the drama to compare it.The first 7 eps of the drama have been really good and really emotional so far, so I can only imagine what the movie would be like. Also they have more time in a drama to explore more aspects of their relationship and struggles in a drama than in a movie. So you compromise big budget and big cast for time and a less known but still pretty talented cast. Smile
I was actually starting to translate this yesterday when suddenly an Aoi-anime version comes out. Neutral All for the better since my translating isn't that great yet. Sad
