My grades have never suffered from watching too much dramas, if it has, I would not still be on D-Addicts thats for sure. I watch more than enough dramas to last me this whole year already, but I'm still watching it so yeah. If theres a good drama, I tend to stay up til whenever just to finish it that same day, example, I started Delightful Girl, Chun-Hyang one night and finished by that morning and this is on a weekday. But luckily, I'm still only in high school [senior, c/o 06 =] ] so it's not all that hard to keep up. =] College will be harder I think, a lot harder. xp

I hate to admit it but watching dramas is wat motivates me to do better. Watching my fav actors/actresses onscreen helps me do good in school and it prevents me from heading into boredom. It's like I'm watching them do their job and at the same time entertaining me and I respond by doing good in school and influence me to always do my best.

i think you just have to know how to balance ur work, as with everything and always during life. LOL. i just got into dramas this winter, so i have not watched a lot, but once i start a series, i just want to keep watching and watching until it's over. so yeah, some days i'm up till the wee hours of the morning. but i'm in college and i must admit it's hard sometimes. i've gotten better at the whole balance thing and for the past 2 quarters I've attained a 4.0 GPA for a year cumalative of 3.8. it's all about balance, no matter how much you want to obsess over the series. schoolwork always comes first =/

Hmm. It's possible. I have like a 3.88 and I watch dramas like crazy. I do my homework during school so I can watch dramas at home. Big Smile I don't have things after school so I can make it all happen. Ah. It's so nice. At least it helps my creativity. Big Smile

I guess it would if you watch it a whole lot. But instead you could change to watching on drama show (episode) a day. And consentrating on your studies. Its like watching TV....don't watch so much ^_^

It's possible. I watch a lot of dramas everyday, but I still have a 4.0. ;DDD
But sometimes, like on essays, they've been going down, cuz' I was procrastinating,
by watching dramas.

Actually, it semi-makes me do my work. Because when I'm bored to wait for the drama to load, I do my work. But then when the drama is done loading, I watch my ass off. Oh yeah, there's other things that I do too that distract me.

I used to be such a smart student. Too bad my grades are rapidly dropping though, I probably won't stand a chance to go into a university. That scares me. X:

watching dramas can't hurt : they got me through med school. i begin my neurosurgery residency this june and i don't intend to stop watching dramas. believe me, good dramas actually helped me retain mountains of facts that i needed to memorize - whether it's anatomy, pharmacology, immunology, etc.

so yes, continue to do what you love doing but don't overdo it. don't splurge on all 16 episodes of [insert your favorite drama here] at once. geez, i sound like a parent already. good luck to your studies.

Lol... I wonder if the Japanese/Korean/Chinese entertainment industries know what they're doing to our grades...
I think the problem is that with the internet, people can get one series all at the same time, and then they stay up the whole night watching it. Whereas in the places where they actually air, there's only one episode per day/week, so it's not a problem.

Don't sacrifice your life for your education, sacrifice sleep. At least that is what I do... which, if you think of it, is pretty a sucky motto when my blood pressure is a little low which makes me constantly sleepy. But yeah, I've currently got a 3.86 GPA and am taking 17 units this semester, and dramas are a BIG part of my life (generally I have to watch at least one episode every day but more so if I have something worth watching at the moment). So, in conclusion, its possible to get good grades and watch lots of dramas. Just gotta know how much of each you can manage...

some interesting posts here.

watching kdrama has definitely affected my grades. it led me to change campuses so i could study korean and chinese and am now barely passing my units because i completely suck at asian languages! but i love it and i'm sticking with it.

surprising i don't find watching kdrama really helps my korean very much (unless i do it very slowly with korean subtitles turned on)

in Australia, getting good grades is only really necessary if you want to go into law/medical fields. i was never asked my marks while applying for jobs. i have four siblings, none who have degrees or even TAFE/technical college skills, but they all easily found (white collar) jobs.

i guess there is a culture gap regarding study habits... my Chinese housemates always seem mystified why i never stress out over tests or assignments.
