downloading... though not dramas have affected my life in a big way.... I blame it on the fact I have an AMD Athlon .... ( concentration ability is zero when it is turned on as it is loud and noisy - thats why I always advise if you don't game.. buy an pentium... much quieter and less heat) and I got obsessed perfecting the art of craming a 700mb video into one cd with hard burned subs... the raw don't have subs encoded into them.... and basically downloading movies...

YOu could say I had no self control... BUt I did try to silence the computer as much as possible by changing fans and anything else... but when I took it to the pc shop to get it even more quiet they said that is the quietest. Its soo loud that at night when I have the blanket over my ears I can still hear it huymming... and I sleep in a bunk bed and the computer desk is right under....

THe result that happened is now I have to change Universities as I have changed the course I am doing... finishing up on dramas I have started and not starting new ones... changing the internet connection so now I share with my brother... and because the schedule of the course I am doing clashed with my work life... change jobs.... only problem is because the schedule is sooo all over the place I have to find a part time job, and although I have been working for the past 3 years.. it still ain't easy. So next week off I go to centrelink to get some kind of welfare payment and continue applying for jobs. Hopefully I'll get one soon...

Ohhh.... the most sad thing about this is.... I can't tell my parents otherwise they would be having heart attacks AND THIS IS A FAMILY DISGRACE .... and I still gotta graduate within 2 years as they think as I am doing p/t study - 6 yrs p/t and I already wasted so much time... when I finally finish my course and transfer into mainstream uni I'll have to do the uni course f/t plus summer school...

and its going to be a stressful 2 years... keeping this a secret from eveyone at home.. only my friends know whats happening and they promise not to tell my parents....

I kinda regret working.. the extra money meant i was able to get my internet connection and download with no restriction..

GUYS I LEARNT IT THE HARD WAY - NO AMOUNT OF DOWNLOADING SERIES/MOVIES/SONGS IS WORTH RISKING YOUR ACADEMIC FUTURE... - LOOK AT ME!!!! I HAVE SUCH A MASSIVE LIFE STYLE CHANGE AND IT AIN'T NICE TO BE LYING TO YOUR FAMILY FOR 2 YEARS..

centrelink eh? bastards won't give me a dime because I'm not 'independent', and yeah I work part-time and commute. </rant>

you seem to be pretty worried about how your family think of you? while I can understand saving face, surely re-doing a subject or two isn't the biggest deal in the world? right now I'm looking to transfer and have wasted much money and time just realising my course wasn't something I wanted to do.

and yeah, our internet is a joke huh, Japan you can get 8M/1M unrestricted for about 45$. **** thieves is what they are.

Dude.. If it was just one or two subjects it would be okay to pick it up in summer school... but it ain't... I'm talking 2 years p/t study gone down the drain....

what payment were you trying to get from centrelink? I'm going to apply for newstart or youth allowannce, which ever gives me more money.

I usually watch over 4 hours worth of TV/dramas a day and it hasn't affected my grades much. Then again, I only have 3 hours of class a day and the rest of the time I'm free...

I don't see why it would affect your grades unless you wanted it to. I watch way too much dramas for my own good, and by the rate I should be getting bad grades. However, I don't just decide not to do homework. I bargain with myself to watch an episode and then do an hour of studying when there's an exam.

down the drain? have you not been getting any passes or is your change in course non credit transferable? I'm looking at transferring in either 1.5 or 2 years Full time study and I don't think much of it will be credited (completely different course at different university), let alone the fact I won't pass many(any?) courses this semester after already adding them onto my growing HECS debt. In any case I understand that if things at uni. don't turn out it can really suck the point of living out of you. right now I'm pretty close to giving up (to what extent I'll leave alone).

they won't give me any payment, the closest I could get is y/a all I need is to be classified independent and I could be on something like over 100$ a week (ironically I would need to waste a whole lot more time earning the minimum wage to earn 'independence').

has anyone in this forum able to watch mass dramas and still keep up there good grades?

its very hard... since dramas are almost 1 hr per ep =( there HAS TO BE A WAY where i can watch dramas and still maintain good grades!!

I guess it depends on what you consider "mass". Laugh If you watch below 4 hours/day, I guess you can keep up good grades. Let's say you go school from 8:00 to 1:00, then go home and start watching few episodes from 1:30 to 5:30. From 6:00 to 11:00, start doing your school works. Mr. Green

Or you can just focus school works during school days and save those episodes during the weekend. Just balance out your schedule. cheers

I have a 4.0 (so far with one class! lol) but I do something productive, I cycle during my drama viewing. It's really good and u watch ur drama just fine and the hour goes by so fast. But of course you have to have the bike that is a chair not a seat ><.

I was thinking of making an electric generator from a stationary bike so that I would have to produce the power to watch a drama on a small computer and the screen Big Smile

I think it's possible if you know how to manage your time wisely. But just watching it is time consuming and it just makes you wanna watch more and more everytime by each passing episode!!! I'm hooked on those series!

If you have insomnia it might be possible. But you hae to put in a lot of overtime to NOT FAIL. I know it's going to be hard next year when I'm in college to watch anything, so I'm squeezing in all I can now.

Since I got obsessed with dramas, my grades are still the same (mostly A, rarely B). My mom' always saying I'm watching dramas too much, don't get enough sleep, don't do my homework carefully and so on. I'm really doing my homework (not as carefully as some times ago but it isn't because dramas). I'm always doing my homework at school during the lessons which aren't not that interesting pinch so I haven't so much do to at home. Watching dramas belongs to my daily routine. I watch one episode before going to school, watch one after school and 2-3 episodes after dinner. (On weekend I watch more, of course!) I'm going to bed at about 10 pm getting up at 6am and I still have the same grades at school oô Maybe I'll get this year my best certificate ever. It isn't only because of English (the grades are the same as before...), in general all my grades are better or beeing the same (except of P.E. pinch).
I don't think dramas are a reason for bad grades.

the magic word: balance

some people don't have to study to get/maintain their good grades, others are not that lucky. so if your grades start dropping because of watching too much drama, cut back. if you still get good grades, then happy watching!

it's not that difficult, but it takes discipline. overall i experience that college is much more timedemanding than high school, but some think the opposite since there aren't as many compulsory lessons/seminares to attend at college. it depends a lot in what school you go to and what you study.

Grades are more important than dramas! Roll Eyes
