that's maybe a bit exaggerated no ? >.<;;
I really love Densha Otoko, but to be honest, even though the Japanese way of acting differs from the western way, densha otoko is utterly overacted. But ok, it kind of fits the show, and i learned to appreciate it.

Are you sure? It's supposed to be a drama/funny serie, what is wrong with that? Maybe usa people are fitted with Summerland, Everwood and similar stuff, always sadness, diseases and stuf

This looks like it'll end rather differently from the 2ch posts, but I guess that makes it all the more interesting. Man, if they have Misaki Ito saying the stuff that the 'real Hermes' said... |

are u japanese..? or are u able to speak japanese? (like bobby who sometimes come out in london hearts, or thane (sp) who used to/does his own interviewing japanese people in english thing)
otherwise, i dont think they hire foreigners for tv shows... unless they are extras or are made to speak in the language they are told to speak in.
at least thats wat ive been seeing for the past 10 years or so.

the only best way to make money over there when you are a foriegn student is to maybe model? many people scout around harajuku/shibuya so somebody might call on u if u look really nice? my 15 year old half japanese friend got scouted there but she rejected the offer....
i dont know if u have to be a citizen to work there though.. :/

> people who want spoilers
Maybe someone else will explain what goes on with the 2ch posts, but I won't because I don't think it's fair to the other people who don't want to know what happens in the 'real life' series.
Besides, it'll remain to be seen how much the drama will deviate from the other incarnations of Densha Otoko. Maybe when episode 11 is out a huge d-addicts.com epilogue will revolve around how the TV drama version was unique to the others. It'll be a story of epic proportions.

So basically, you're trying to make money without working? Sure, Atsushi Ito and Misaki Ito make a lot of money from the show, but it took them a lot of work to get to the point where they are now. It's not like they just jumped into a train, did a little jig, and said that they wanted to act.
Perhaps the others on this board are more forgiving, but I find it insulting that you would try to use people to make easy money - and what'll make it even harder for you is your lack of attention to detail. You may say that you have two native languages, but you didn't even bother spell-checking one of them. If you can't even pay attention to details like that, being attentive about your own body or your acting style is totally out of the question. To me it seems like you're not serious about this at all.
Sure, modeling or acting seems like easy money, but only to the people who aren't in those industries. If you have any friends who are aspiring actors, this point is rather clear - there is a rather tough hurdle to go through before people will even bother looking at you. The grass sure does look greener from the outside.
This subtitling thing is actually pretty fun...

In Japan the actors dont work for the TV channel directly, but through a company. Thats why you can see the same "tarento/actor/etc" in every channel.
Ive watched some tv show where they were making an interview with some "casting company" represent. This company had a lot of foreginers talents, and lots of them havent debuted on tv yet, who knows if they will ever do it (i didnt know any of them). There are some other model companies with foreigner models too. You could try searching in the internet.
But If you think that you can come to Japan, make your debut on tv, earn enough money to pay your studies, and become a star just because you are pretty-foreigner-trilingual... how can i say it... wake up! Beeing a star and earn a lot of money in Japan is as difficult as it is in every country. Takes a lot of effort, talent and luck.
I think the best thing you can do is teach english in some english school like nova, hummingbird, etc. Its really good money (thats what i heard, over 2000-2400yen per hour). But even working like that it will be very difficult that you could earn enough money to pay your studies, apartment, food, etc, and have time to study at the same time. Btw, If youre gonna live and study in Tokyo you will need about $2000 per month. (asuming rent 80.000, studies 100.000-150.000, food and etc 50.000).

I heard Nova stands for 'No-vacation' since they basically don't let you take vacations and don't pay you much. Don't work for them!
I have a lot of problems with those English schools in general, but I'll save the political talk for another forum, if that ever happens.
