i think you need to read some of our stickies and FAQs.

sub files are not meant to be open by themselves. you need to play them with the video file.

if you want to view the sub by itself, right-click -- open with... notepad.

Actually I tried both and they both don't work. Which is strange because the older episodes for srt and ass work fine. One thing I noticed when I opened them up in notepad is that I seems like the subs were made with a different ver of Aegisub. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Not sure. It's not a big deal really. Big Smile

I actually had the exact same problem, subs before 401 worked fine and then 401 and 402 stopped working entirely (ie video worked without the subs but not at all with them). For me, I was using MPC 6.4.9.1 and had to mess around with the Playback->Output settings to get it to *finally* work.

Episode 403 subs are complete!

ASS subs are the recommended version for viewing!

SRT version is also provided just in case you can't view ASS subs, but it may not look as nice (due to formatting issues). It should still be readable though.

I had tried changing the srt file like this but still had the problem.

I noticed that the avi files had been encoded with xvid but beginning
with 401, divx was being used. So I re-encoded #403 using xvid
and the problem went away.

I'm guessing my WMP needs a
codec upgrade but why the existence of an .srt file would keep an .avi
file from playing is a question for someone smarter than me.

fyi - I had the same issue with the Ainori subs beginning with 401. I only tried the .ass files, because I found a quick fix, using VLC player. Of course I've had to do it for each episode now, but it's relatively simple. If you can't get anything else to work, this may.

Go to: Settings > Preferences... > Video > Subtitles/OSD

Browse and select sub file for "Use subtitle file" field.

Linux shows them as:

MPEG ADTS, layer I, v1, 96kBits, 44.1kHz, Stereo

Can someone please repost all the subs beginning with 379?

EDIT: Uploaded new versions to sort timings correctly and upload Unicode version of SRT subs. This should fix problems for the subs if you had some.
