DVP462 vs DVP462/37?

anybody know how to get subtitles to play on this dvd player. I just got mine at amazon for 56 w/ free shipping. I can't get any subtitles to appear. also does anybody know how to make xvid videos play on this machine. I already made it region free by opeing up the disk tray then typing in 7 8 9 ok 0.

^ Didn't u see an insert in the user manual?
Before u had to download a firmware and install it in the machine...but i guess the new releases had the firmware already installed, so it can play subs and even XVID...
well, u can try playing the subs...
Copied from the "addendum sheet"

1) Load a Divx disc and press "DISC MENU" on remote control
-->The DATA CD MENU appears on the TV screen

2) Press ^up and down on remote control to select an external subtitle option

3)Press subtitle to select a subtitle file
->"DIVX SUBTITLE SELECTED" appears on the TV screen
4) Press ^(up) and down to highlight the movie file and press OK to confirm
-> The playback will start accordingly

Note: supports .sub, .srt and .smi

there are some illustrations included as well...if u dont get it, u can always find an online manual from the philips site.
