I discovered the series while looking for an online version of DAIKON IV, the original anime on which the opening sequence is based, and subsequently learned how to manage downloading the episodes available so far along with the exceptionally well done subtitles. It took awhile to master the technology but the effort has proven well worth it. I've rationed out the five parts over five days just so as to prolong the pleasure and have told lots of others about the series. I will be teaching a course on "Contemporary Japan in Historical Perspective" at the university level beginning in a few weeks and plan to show the entire first episode to my students durin the first week of the semester (preceeded by a PowerPoint primer pointing out some of the cultural characteristics they need to become familiar with and watch for as the plot unfolds); I can't imagine a better introduction to life in today's Japan! Thanks to JUNKBOY and GREYHORSE both for making all this possible. I'm enjoying the series immensely! |
I have just started watching this wonderful series. Actually up to my 5 th episode in 2 days... I can't prolong it like you did. What a joy. I would be very interested in your primer, and the social/historical context of various aspects of this series. Is there any way to post that power point project? a link?
Thanks in advance!
