Hey guys

I think it'll be a good way to work on my Japanese plus it'll look good on my resume if I get some translation experience

I can translate any written Japanese if we can get a Japanese person to write down what the people or saying (preferably with kanji), or if it's spoken then I can translate stuff aimed at kids (I can watch doramas without subtitles and follow what's going on, but I can't translate everything)

Actually my Japanese friend wrote out the script of Gokusen2 episode 1 and I translated most of it earlier this year, but I didn't want to do the timing and stuff so I didn't finish it up

If someone else knows how to do the timing and whatnot, though, I can finish that script and hand it over

You should drop me a line if you're interested in helping with Gokusen2 or can use my help in a fansubbing group. I can spare at least 10 hours a week without cutting into my classes, so I should be able to help out

Thanks
- Ray

Since timing is all done for Anego already, you may want to consider subbing this series.
Only thing is there's no japanese transcript, but there's high demand for this drama to be subbed according to the posts. So far, there's only a French fansubber for Anego but no English subber.

http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18159

Since you can understand spoken Japanese, you may be able to translate based on the audio. If you need Anego raws, I'm sure there'll be people willing to seed if you put requests. If you want to translate another Jdrama, I can prob find the timing for the subs easily.

Gokusen 2 is already started by someone else, they're on vacation now, but they'll get back to it when they come back.

haha, dang

I'd love to, but if I translate something without a script or a Japanese person's help, it's gonna be like this

"Good morning"

"Good morning. You don't look well. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm all right. I just didn't get much sleep last night because (???)"

"(???? cat ???? robber ?????)"

"Oh man, in the sink??"

"Yeah, it was pretty intense. (???)"

"(????????????????? I think they're talking about the guy's childhood now for some reason)"

Don't get me wrong, though.. I can communicate face to face with Japanese people prety well ('cuz they speak loudly and slowly.. haha)

Maybe if I can find some Japanese friends in Seattle I could get their help..

Hi
I think the reason Tianj suggested you help out with Anego is because in almost every episode the 2 main characters have conversations where they are thinking something other than what they are saying. Unfortunately for people like me who don't read Japanese, these thoughts aren't shown as voice overs but as script on the screen, so even with my so-so understanding of the dialogue, I still can't figure out what they are thinking! It bugged me enough that I came here to request someone do a quickie translation of their thoughts and saw your post.

I'd be happy to seed the episodes for you if you would just message me back what they AREN'T saying! If it turns out to be useful to the subtitling folks, great, but at least my curiousity would be satisfied. Let me know if you are interested in translating the written portions of the episodes. I can seed a couple so you see what I'm talking about and decide for yourself. It might be a good way to begin this kind of work.

Actually I can't understand any Japanese, I just thought since there's alot of requests for Anego to be translated

Does this mean you'll translate the entire subtitles or only the thoughts?

I'd like to do the whole thing, but I'm not good enough to pick up everything people say

I could watch it and write down a translated version of all the subtitles, though

Do you know how to convert the subs to srt format using vobsub(if not I can do it), and then you can just write directly on the srt(erase the korean).

Hi:
I just downloaded the FAQ and stuff to make the torrent, I'll upload seed within 36 hours. the 2 conversations in Ep 9 begin at 34 minutes, 37 seconds and at 41 minutes, 01 seconds if you feel like skipping a viewing of the whole episode. Episode 10 is the final episode and the conversation starts at 51:25.

Hope this is enough info. The conversations are just a couple of minutes long, but not every comment has a "thought", so they may be a little spaced out. Hope that makes sense when you see it! I will seed for a week to give you time to download. Let me know here if you're done sooner.

One piece of information may be helpful. She's 33, he's 22, she proposed to him a couple of episodes ago and he said no. Big Smile

Hi-

I think I got it up okay, will begin seeding as soon as I post this. I appreciate your help on this. I think most if not all of the original seeds for the series posted here by JunkBoy77 should still work, but if you decide you want to see the whole series and some seeds are dead, just drop me a line and I'll reseed whatever is missing. The URL is here at d-addicts, in case I forgot to say.

If you decide you like the series' idea, you should also check out another spring series, Magarikado No Kanojo. Another 33 year old who gets involved with a younger man at work, but much lighter in tone. There won't be a lot for you to translate, but the series is fun. The makeout session at the end of Ep 8 is entertaining, but she should have wrapped her legs completely around him. More importantly (ahem!) is it's the first J Dorama where I've seen an elite man choose a woman over the family business! Times appear to be changing.

One last favor and I'll shut up. Can you list the names of the major actors in the series? Google's translator tries hard, but it mangles Asian names.

Hi:

I used ABC to create the torrent but after multiple attempts still can't get it to work right, so will go for the software they recommended and rebuild seed after I get a few hours sleep. You Can try to use original seeds here in the JDrama forum from JunkBoy77 if I haven't got it working when you check in next time.

Sorry for the delay-- this is my first attempt at seeding. I WILL eventually get it right!!

SakuraG89, it's not really hard to seed the original file. However, you MUST have the original video with you or else, the seeding won't work. I saw your torrent posted earlier and when you do something like that, it irritates the moderators because they don't like it when people create a new torrent when one already exist.

So, keep in mind that if an existing torrent is here on d-addicts, use that one and remember, have the original video with you because it makes no sense to seed a file when you don't have the file to begin with.

Edit: I see that you do have the original video, but if ABC doesn't work for you, then try something like Azureus or BitComent since they have an option for seeding the file and it's really easy.

yoyoyo, I'm now downloading Junkboy's episode 9 and 10

Hopefully I'll have those conversations translated for you by Sunday or so

Hey, you should get a Japanese girlfriend

and then be like "Hey you want to hang around and watch Japanese soap operas all day?"

She'll be all like "HELL YEAH PUMP IT"

Unless you're a girl, in which case you'll just have to be like "Hey, get yir rear in here and translate this for me"

Hi:

Did Anego eps 9 and 10 download okay? Sometimes if the seed's over a month old, no one's still seeding. Any problem, let me know.
