First of all, thanks to okumasama for releasing the episodes to this series in such a quick and timely manner! Big Smile

If you haven't seen this series, go watch it and bring a box of tissues. Acting was great and storyline was very involving. I definitely highly recommend it. (Be warned of dark themes though in this series)

If you've seen this series, what do you think about it? Is it an accurate portrayal of mentally challenged young adults? What about their situation? I know that I've heard of news where people who are mentally slow are sometimes treated very badly.

Spoiler for the ending: highlight to read.
What did you think of the end? I thought it was good, but . . grr! What about those other people who treated them badly and got away with it? There were so many people who had bad intentions in this drama that went away unharmed and/or their motives were not discovered publicly. (ie. the mayor's wife who treated Ryoko Hirosue badly and wanted to have the mayor to herself although she put up a very stepmotherly facade, pretending to care about the girl / ie. and towa's brother who in the very beginning of the series purposely caused havoc in the house so that the parents could blame towa)

What was really sad was the fact that even in court with all the evidence presented to them, the public still displayed a blind eye to what was happening. Crying And they proclaimed Mr. Manager innocent.

Lastly, Ren-kun died! Crying And Rin is blind! Crying Crying Crying Crying And Alice died so early in the series. This was so depressing. But still good.

People get mistreated in all aspects of society. But, because they're such easy targets, the people who get treated the worst are alwasy the weak - old people, children, mentally challenged, poor, on and on... It's hard to tell whether this story is an accurate dipiction of reality. However, sometimes reality is too bizzare or disturbing to seem real. Crying

OHHH THE AGONY of watching it. Man I skipped scenes to scenes because the drama could've ended long before episode 11.

After episode 7 I skipped straight to 11 because I can't bear Japanese bad drama. They extend something that isn't possible to extend. I felt like being laughed at.

I am currently at episode 2. So far, the storyline was pretty ok. However there is one thing I am not satisfied which is Ryoko Hirosue needs more airtime! Big Smile

I just finished episode 5 now. I think that the real retarded part about this drama is the fact none of the retarded kids tell their teacher, played by Noriko, about the abuse that's taking place. I think thats unreal. Neutral

this is a really old thread but i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what happens...

Hidden:

i watched this up until about episode 7 but i didn't want to carry on because the story was kind of hard to take, plus i had a lot of college work to do so didn't really have the time (i imagine i'll finish watching it sometime this year but still want the spoilers), so i read the topic starter's post and i wanted to ask: what happens with the court case- does the manager etc just walk free? how does Ren die? (i only started watching it because of masanobu ando haha) aaand what happens with the other kids, towa, rin etc?

thanks to anyone that replies?

I just finished this. It is wonderful drama, rather sad though.

Yes, the manager is not proven guilty (not proven innocent either though but gets free) and then dies in the fire in the factory.

Ren wants to kill him, but gets stabbed, wants to die together with his sister in the fire (he says if he went to prison, his blind sister would have to be alone all her lifetime). He's taken by ambulance, but they don't manage to save him.

Other kids are all right, except Rin who got blind. At first they also think that Towa has died in the factory but later, he is found in the cellar.

I watched it several times, because this is one of the best dramas I ever seen. I started to watch it because of Hirosue Ryoko and Ando Masanobu. The characters and the storyline is great. I felt sorry for the kids, because they never did nothing wrong (okay, Tatsuo stole those underwears) and they almost had to suffer. I always cried when they were beaten. And I didn't really like the end. Why had to happen that with Ren? He was one of my favourites (I liked Towa, Arisu, Momo and Ayumu too).
