Synopsis
Based on Naoki Award winner Kiyoshi Sigematsu's best seller, the reunited team of 'Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World' and 'JIN' present a story of ultimate family love.
The story is about 30 years in the life of a stubborn and pugnacious 'Idiot' who truly loves his son and tries so hard to raise him with support from the people around.
It starts in 1998 with Akira working for a publishing company, trying to come up with good ideas for a supplement to a student book while looking at a picture of his father Yasu.
It then goes back to 1972, when a truck driver Yasu and his wife Misako finally have a long-awaited baby. The couple named the baby Akira and started to enjoy the sort of family life they could not in their parent-less childhood. Three years later, however, an unexpected incident occurs when Misako visits Yasu's place of work with Akira. – TBS International
